What goes good with a pal as a sub job?

I'm wanting to know what a good sub is for a pal.. I was thinking Pal/nin.. but something about it just didnt quite sound right.

Warrior should be the only viable sub for paladin especially during party play

NIN's situational, WAR is standard. Everyone else, you just play around with (like /SAM for getting 300 point WS quest).

Unfortunately, a paladin is made ONLY for having a warrior subbed, and anything else, but if everytime you just walk around you think of subbing war: not necessary.
I sub monk at paladin when i goof around.

i concur with grizzlebeard on his opinion, but RDM is also a good sub. fast cast FTW!!!!!

LOL, don't mind Iva and Grizz, they're messing around. But seriously, standard sub is WAR cause you get JA's like Provoke, Defender, and at 70 you get Warcry. Besides the JA's a PLD gets (Shield Bash at 15, Sentinel at 30, Cover at 35, and Rampart at 62) all of which gives you hate. Add your spells (Cure's I, II, III and occasional IV, Flash at 37) makes it even better for you to get hate and control hate in parties. Your job as a PLD is a main tank, but I won't get into explanation on this since it's best if you read the sticky that's on top of this forum. It's Rugal's guide. And even though it's really old somewhat, it still helps. I know it helped me in a lot of ways.

MNK would be such an awesome sub for PLD if only it had a Provoke-like ability.

But yeah, if you want to get anywhere with PLD, subbing WAR is a must.

PLD/WHM is a godsend for soloing but it shouldn't be done in EXP.

If only PLDs could have a proke-like ability would be awesome. I think it would allow them more flexibility with sub jobs, although WAR is a very nice sub for any mellee class.

With the Merit Point update you may just get that.
