My experience so far (i've hit 51, almost 52)
    pre 48 i tried HP>MP
So i had 830ish+ hp at 48 with a mp pool of 298-300ish but I will tell you the dmg taken from lack of vit/def was not enjoyable.

So I opted to try to max out on VIT&DEF, my priority being VIT
After tweaking my gear around @ LV 51 I have:
    53+26VIT + food = +7 i believe so a total 86 VIT
I use a terra staff(sword capped as Lv 75 RDM, shield is always going up with rdm soloing)
I have nearly 400 defense with my food + protect 3, goes up more with defender
my DMG intake is about 25-50 once in awhile a CRIT 97-98 from IT+ Beetles that give 168-230ish xp
    my HP is: 767
my MP is:386(ends ups in the 406 with food i think, i dunno what but i know it hits 406 when i xp)

over all my dmg taken is HIGHLY reduced, i rarely fall down 500 HP, jet streams dont do much for anything to panic at, spiders might do more, but 20% DMG off will help. I also figured the def+high VIT will offer a dmg reduction on spiders max sickle.

All in all, for xp wise so far, I have enjoyed much more the HP>MP for taru, i havent sacrificed any MP. I dont rely on my hits to keep hate, I switch to dark staff as soon as fight ends, my MP get up quickly(which it was quicker XD).
my fight ends with me with full hp, my mages with a huge mp pool, my mp pool is suprisingly very healthy still.

Anyways waiting to see how it will be when i have sidewinder to deal with. I dont get sata onto me @ start if i have a thief anyways, hate isnt a big issue.

Anyways ill comment more about staying HP>MP later on.

I have espadon & TK on side just for looks :p

    Hi Weeee,

    i myself am a 75rdm too,
and have been working off my veritable subs, and finally on my last one to finish off whm to 42,

PLD is where i want to go, but before that i am intending to do some heavy ground work on merits,
being taru im going to invest 9:1 in hp:mp due to most end game mobs doing the 1K+ specials, this will help my rdm more aswell,
im not sure if you are still 74rdm but i would recommend going after the seemingly free upgrades from merits as well,

all in all glad to see another taru pld out there taking one for the team, hehe

      1k dmg

I've never recall a xp mob that does 1k dmg, i've seen gobbue's in boyada do some 700 once in awhile on non staff wielding pld's.
I also have a 67 rng, so i commonly end up *tanking* and i've never seen 1k dmg :p(if i am wrong please correct me)

I recently did spiders in boyada again

i only got sickles for 512 once the rest was 200-300 criticals usually 400 on sickles, but 512 only once in 2 lvls

Yea in EXP that high MP pool for a taru works wonders, but as you said- when you start to do things like gods, when you'll always have refresh and ballad, and outside healers, you really need that extra hp. Certain things are just instant death to tanks at higher lvl, and you really need that hp. Byakko's triple attack to ws, genbu's ws to double attack (when hes at low hp), seiryu's breath attack, etc, all can really take your hp down FAST, and you can't use mp if you're dead ;D

In exp, HP doesnt matter as much. I did some experimenting with vermillion cloak + earth staff around lv68 tanking aery spiders, and it worked very well. Very rarely dropped below 60% hp and always had plenty of MP. I would actually go as far as saying that in quite a few exp situations, a vermillion cloak is the best choice for PLD, simply because MP=hate in exp, and you dont really have to worry about that HP.

              Taru Meat Shield

At level 60 taru PLD, I currently have 1115 HP 427MP (from what I can recall, will go into game after update and get the real figures). I do not currently wear any MP to HP conversion gear. I wanted to go all out HP at one point, but at the advice of friends and LS mates, as well as other PLD, I've decided to keep a nice balance between def/vit/hp.

The 3 main HP items I have are:
              Bomb Queen Ring (+75hp)
Pigeon Earrings (+20hp each, total of +40hp)

Currently wearing full AF which has a nice HP boost as well
The rest of my gear has some small +hp to it, and the remaining is all +vit. Wielding Gluttony and Earth Staff in battle.

We usually do not notice major damage for me, even as Taru PLD. Never really got one shotted by spiders or anything of the like, hardly ever get red HP, the only times we've had that is when we have an add/agro/link whatnot.

At level 60 (our spt level), last night we were fighting Toramas in Onzozo and we noticed something very interesting.

Now, at 60 these things are a biotch as you all know. I started out the evening with Earth Staff and the damage was normal, anywhere from 60-80 a hit, 100s on criticals. Midway through I decided to skill up my sword, figured the +7 VIT would help as well, but... it turns out that the extra VIT didnt really help as much as -20% physical damage. Against IT++ Toramas (we were still chaining 5s etc) wielding a Gluttony and shield, I was suddenly getting hit for 120-130 damage per hit!

After a few of these fights, my spt bard pointed this out to me and reminded me to eat my food (fishkabobs), and I checked, yep still had food effect on. So I said "I will switch back to Earth", and voila, the Toramas went back to doing 60-80 a hit... Wow what a huge difference.

After this find, I'm really going to go for Jelly ring which is -5% physical damage if I'm not mistaken (Have camped this many times for other PLDs in ls and was really hoping I didnt have to ; . I'm also going to concentrate on finding other -physical damage gear that I can swap back and forth depending on what I need.

I have not yet considered buying a Terra Staff, but will look into if that makes a huge difference or not before I purchase that.

As for Vermillion Cloak, I have one that I use for my mage classes. I have opted to let my spt whm use it instead, as I do not have any urgent need for MP that cannot be replenished by our BRD and also the Melon Juices I make as we SPT. Before Ballad II, I was chugging Juices like crazy since we like to pull non stop if we can, but since Ballad II, I've only had to use juices around 2-3 times, in a 3 hour exp session. The +enm for me, from the Gallant set is very helpful at my level.

                  Terra Staff

Terra Staff is nice, its not only a luxury item i find
the extra vit bring it even more superior to glutonny, and that extra 5 dmg and lower delay helps a bit

I notice many ppls fail to notice glut offer mostly 7 vit, the dmg and delay is not as important, espcially a tarudin, since defender is usually on.

                  i mean +5 VIT & 20% Physical dmg... weeeeeeeeee

                  .

                  Your pld looks awesome btw ^^, my girlfriend is almost finished lvling her monk and decide to do pld next too, same model ^^, maybe she wont cry @ me saying "I'm uggglllllly T.T(blm and monk af -.-;;

Dang 120's off toramas. Jesus, most they hit me was 112, without an E staff. The most damage i've taken is probably recently, off of the Lizards in Den of Rancor and that's 135 (without WS) and 125 off Goobues. But then again, certain situations are different at any given time. What I'm surprised is, you have a damn Bomb Queen ring. That's like hard to get or even expensive to buy. Buying a terra staff is good if you can afford it. Juices are good if you don't have a RDM or even better with a BRD. Eat Tacos instead of the Fish mith's, you may notice a difference. Plus it gives +20HP and MP.
