Tarutaru Paladin

I'm not a new player, I've been playing since NA release - I have gotten at least two jobs to level 40, and left for a few months here and there. But I'm coming back to start a new character.

I love being a Tarutaru, moreso than other races (only been tarutaru and hume though). I really wanted to give some melee jobs a go, and I really liked the idea of Paladin (and I've seen them been played in the game a fair bit).

Would it be wise, knowing that I love Tarutaru, to be a Paladin? I know the stats on HP and defense are a little off... but with a higher MP stat, wouldn't it be easier to just base equiptment on +HP, +VIT and +DEF?

I don't see why not. Tarutaru paladin's will be fine, with their massive mp pool. "Player Skill > Race" Is going to be popping up in this thread sooner or later, so might as well say it now. It's Inevitable for that quote to be popping up in these types of threads.

Yep, the biggest thing I remember back then that we were talking about was taru PLD's need more DEF, HP and VIT since they're stacked with MP. So if you can afford MP to HP items, and DEF items and VIT items, you'll be fine. Just gotta remember that being a taru, 1 shot skills are a killer, so just be aware of that. But other than that, you'll be fine. I mean ask Biterman and Lord Hamasaki for advice. They're really high lvl taru PLD's and i remember Hamasaki has Koenig.

I like Taru PLD to keep their MP IMO. Get some +HP definitely but i don't like lowering your MP. And get started on cooking earlier. You'll need lots of juice.

Being a Taru PLD is definitely a fun experience and in some ways, a different style of tanking. Gear wise, you would definitely want more HP and VIT. I say VIT over defense because it lowers the max dmg u recieve from mob special skills thus lowering ur chances of being one shotted. The one shot phenomenon gets lower as ur lvl gets higher and it really depends wat ur exping on. Also, try to get HP+ items instead of MP-->HP items because as a taru, your MP will always be your bestfriend. But MP-->HP items are not totally bad at all. Its just, from my experience, since our base STR are not that high either, most of our hate keeping will come from our ability to cure ourselves more with our larger MP pool (not to say you blow all ur MP at once ) instead of other races who can deal a pretty decent amount of dmg to help with hate keeping. But these are just my opinions based on my experiences. I hope they help. After all, gear only backs up skill. So find ur style of tanking and fit your gear accordingly. And when I say style of tanking, I mean something that works, not something totally way off like going all STR and DEX or going all AGI and hoping to evade as much as a NIN or THF.

Tarutaru Paladins rock. Their high MP makes them some of the best hate holders in the game, just as long as they do, as you said, base their choice of gear on +HP/+VIT and defense.

Yea, Ground Strike makes us jump. Not as much air as Savage Blade but still definitely some air. Lvling Gsword was a pain so I got that Mercurial Sword. That sword got me capped at 250 in no time. I capped it at Boyahda Tree near the aery zone (just in case i need to zone)on T-VT spiders cuz I would usually solo skill or have a partner or two. Merc sword costed me 1.9 mil but its down to 900k nowadays. Hope its that cheap over at your servers too now so you can get this awesome ws. Too bad it does not do as much dmg as spinning slash tough or maybe i could be wrong.

P.S. Make sure you use a Papilion!

Also... the new shield system. Is it me or does it just suck!?

BEFORE : "Spazz blocks <monster>'s attack with his shield."

NOW : "Spazz take 10 damage from <monster>'s attack."

So basically... all it does is reduce damage? Im still a low lvl PLD... so 10 HP is still kinda alot (especially when you take into mind i am a taru).
