hey, just got some questions on some stuff.

firstly....... i am nearing level 57 where i will have to purchas the gluttony sword, wich is 300k on asura right now (i know its not alot but it was 150k like 2 weeks ago ><) my question is, even though i could come up with 300k in a week or 2, how is the gluttony sword optained? like is it a NM drop? HNM drop? quest reward? or synthed??

my other question is about a wierd message i'm seeing every now and then when i cast cure 3, i have not used cover at all and it will say "Cover!! Meatball recovers 190 hp" just wondering what the cover message is about,

    thanks

Seems you must trade 7 flintstones to 7 torches within a 1 sec time frame to spawn the NM. So you need at least 6 people to help.

You can't solo it at level 60, usually needs 2-3 lv60s per skull, or put a 75 can usually solo it.

but if you are just aiming for Gluttony Sword, don't bother with a team of players at the other one, for them just spawn and run and your Gluttony team kills Gluttony

I just started to kill these once a week. I've only gotten Gluttony once. I think I'm 1/6 now on Gluttony.

I am rapidly approaching level 57. Now, I have like 42K and there is no way in hell that I can raise 350K for Gluttony (On Siren) without it taking me a good 2-3 weeks of farming every day. Thus I ask, asuming I continue to use Food, etc, will Gluttony be sorely missed if I stick to my Tct.Mag.Espadon (the ATK+15 one) and switch to Bastard Sword at 60 (as I have seen many a PLD do) and hang with that untill 66's Espadon+1? 'cos in 3 weeks farming time you could go from 56--->62 at least (in a pessimistic setting).

All teleport scrolls, aspir, drain, Utsusemi: Ichi, Jubaku: Ichi = way more than 370k. That is assuming you don't plan on playing Nin or Whm anytime soon.

Hmm...true. I have already used Utsusemi: Ichi because I used to be WAR/NIN and might go back to it someday (not soon), however the Teleport Scrolls seem like a good thing to go for. I used Drain since I used to be DRK >< . However selling a scroll of Aspir should net me a good amount...maybe this sword is possible...

BUT, say I didn't get, will it be SORELY missed?

2 weapons needed (the 3. is optional) for a pld past lvl 57:
Gluttony Sword and Earth Staff. You ahve both? you have variety on changeing to witch one you want. I for myself have also a darkstaff. But Gluttony Sword is very very nice in fact.

                  O_O both?
Sounds like once Ariesknight hits level 57 it's time for a farming time-out...or is it?

I personally think Dark Staff is far more helpful for pld in the 50's and 60's. I can count the times I needed earth staff in my 50's on one hand. Dark staff on the other hand is freakin sweet for mp regen.

To be honest, Earth Staff is (for the most part) a waste in exp parties. If something is hitting you hard enough that the -20% damage reduction is needed, something isn't right. However, Spirit Taker is rather nice so if you have the skill to actually hit often enough to built TP and keep hate, it might be a viable options. Even still, if you have the intent to tank HNMs though, Earth Staff is a must. You probably won't have to worry about this for quite a while though.

I bought Gluttony at level 57 and enjoyed it while I had it. The damage reduction is pretty nice, but the best part about using a sword/shield is the ability to block attacks and use Spirits Within, which does 15/32 of your current HP in damage at 300% TP.

I'm not sure the Gluttony Sword is "necessary", but it certainly makes you stand out slightly from other paladins and there was a noticeable damage reduction. Even so, as soon as I hit level 66, I switched to Espadon+1 because of the higher damage, faster hits, and subsequently the better hate control. If you have the option to get Joyeuse at level 70, you'll probably end up selling Espadon+1 too.

                      EDIT: Regarding Dark Staff. The only problem here is that post-55 this means you'll never have 300% TP for Spirits Within, which I used as an "emergency" hate tool or to help finish Chain #5s. Certainly Dark Staff would help in a party without Bard or Red Mage, but leveling post-50 without some form of MP regen is, quite frankly, abysmal. ><;;

I recently bought a Dark Staff for those xp parties where mp regen isn't so wonderful as well as for farming when time is limited and I can't afford to rest for hours waiting to get full mp. Gluttony is a nice sword if a little slow and I'm looking forward to 66 when I can replace it with an Espadon +1. As for Earth Staff, I don't see myself needing this for a long time yet so it's way down on the list of priorities.

Gluttony Sword: Definitely not a required weapon. I have it, and it is nice, but I could just as easily tank without it (like I've done with a club and still held hate fine). I plan to switch to Espandon +1 as soon as I hit level 66, but then I also have a Diamond Shield.

Earth Staff: You really don't need this till you start tanking big bad HNMs or really hard hitting NMs. If my skill was high enough to hit in an EXP party, I'd test it some more, but I don't think it would work. I take too little damge sometimes as it is to get a cure off on myself. The damage reduction on earth staff just isn't worth the damage reduction you get from shield blocks.

Dark Staff: Very helpful for minimizing downtime. My static is never waiting on me for MP. Sure, that 300% Spirits Within might help get that chain #5 or #6, but then you'll have to stop and rest for MP after that, during which you won't be able to fight and get more exp. Thus, negating the extra exp you got from that last chain. It's a whole lot easier to use more MP to cure yourself and then rest it back with a Dark Staff. The 300% Spirits Within is always nice, but I've found resting for more MP to be the most efficient for my static.

Spirits Within: I rarely every have to depend on this for hate. But if I do, 100% TP is more than enough, which will do anywhere from 100 to 180 damage with almost full HP. Considering if you make use of the Dark Staff every battle, using Spirits Within at 100% TP is much more efficient than saving up for 300% TP. You deal an extra 100+ damage to the mob and keep up on MP to fight non-stop.

                          Be like a Paladin.
Take the hit, shrug it off, and ask if their mom hits any harder.

To be honest, my static never had to wait for me to get MP. In fact, I barely needed to /heal most of the time and it wasn't because I was severely holding back on spellcasting. It might have just been our setup, but I never felt the need for faster MP regen. It might be different for others depending on how they manage MP and how their parties operate though.
