Adaman gear question

Was wondering if anyone with experience could give some input about how good the Adaman set is compare to our AF ver1

Is it worth using for exp or just HNM stuff?

I'm not really into hunting HNM monsters, so i more curious to know if its worth it for exp and dynamis stuff.



I compile the stats of each armor so everyone can check them out.

given a choice between all of them.... i would say mix and match (forget looks while exping - if it works well, use it)

the HP and VIT on the AF set body piece is just way too much to give up for any of the higher stuff.

I'd take a Gem Cuirass over Gallant Surcoat. +1 VIT, +2 Enmity, and I already have a whackload of HP. I'd say user preference on that one.

For exping... Adaman is great. Probably the best armor for exping for a paladin. For HNM... a mix/match of AF and Adaman is what I did. Use the pieces of adaman that are better than AF. For example: Adaman boots give HP+15 Enmity+1, AF just gives HP+15 and has less def. Adaman helm gives HP+12 MP+12 Enmity+2 and VIT+3... AF gives shit stats compared to it. But, do what you want to do. :D

I plan on taking up the PLD job soon, and I have a question about Koeing.

Is this good to use in an EXP PT, or do the -STR/DEX/Emnity make it to hard to hold hate compared to Adaman? I've already starting getting the pieces since I'm a WAR and almost every PLD has almost full Koeing, so getting it isn't an issue at all. But is it built to be pure HNM gear?

My friends with 3-5 pieces of Koenig tell me that it's not always ideal for XP PT's. It depends on what kind of setup you have. The hit to your other stats are pretty noticeable, and you'll be doing crap damage as if you had constant Defender on. If you have a high damage PT, maybe Koenig would be nice, but then you may have trouble keeping hate due to lack of +enmity.

I know you don't really think +enmity is much of an issue, but this is the general concensus I hear... +enmity helps for xp because those fights tend to be relatively short. The +enmity allows for your aggro spike JA's and spells to turn the mob on you. +CHR seems to help keep perpetual aggro; in other words, it's better for longer fights. Since xp fights tend to be pretty short, I would assume a combination of AF2 and adaman would be more ideal.

although the - chr hurts, this probably is the best helmet you could use for an exp party right?

it sucks in party but I use it anyways.. It's definately designed to be HNM gear. AF2 set is the best set for Party use.

yep i have to agree koenig isnt really meant for xping, mainly for HNMs,

adaman is probably the best armor you can buy from xping and other stuff, as for AF2 if you can get it, just dump your adaman

When you have access to Koenig you also should have access to Aegishaljmr so enmity shouldn't be an issue. The things you exp on @75 for limit points really are tough as nails. If you go to K.Ranps Tomb to exp off all the T's then you can wear full attack gear and still do the job fine (yeah Haub too). If you go up against Aura Statues... Well you can wear Koenig and take 80-100 per hit or you can wear AF and take 180-200 a hit. And either way, you aren't gonna deal jack for dmg vs those.

Using Koenig in exp is situational, so it can't be completely discredited.

as rdm i work alot with /equip's each spell macro i have swaps 5 pieces of gear,

above there is a compilation of 4 sets,

the rule to mix and match is thus:

"only wear what helps you do what you are trying to do,"

an odd phrase yes but bare with me,

Adaman set is designed to boost tanking and hate, but they dont help you use say "sentinel" for eg

so a lvl 73PLD wearing Adaman Sabatons, his Sentinal runs out so he needs to reapply it,
press the following macro key,

/equip feet "Valor Leggings"
/p (Sentinel)
/ja "Sentinel" <me>
/wait 2
/equip feet "Adaman Sabatons"

any healer who yells at you for blinking should be slapped,
they should already have a permanent cure macro assigned to the tank,

so in answer to your question,
you should have adaman and AF and AFII sets on you, at all times,

I do that same macro but for Rampart. I switch out the Aegishjalmr for the Valor Coronet and back. Pretty nifty.

The only exception to the mix/match rule for exp PTs are for Galka PLD. I've found that most Galka PLD like the Adaman Barbuta/Cuirass for the MP bonuses.

I'm not really into the HNM scene much these days, but HP is king, and the result is that Koenig seems to be the best. I'm not entirely sure how well a full Koenig PLD could keep hate, but I do agree with Rugal's "CHR helps you keep perpetual hate" theory. I'd be skeptical at how a full Koenig PLD keeps hate at the get-go of an HNM encounter, but they could probably hold it very well after a few minutes.

actually AF2 adds more enmity and defenses than the adaman set does. AF2 is pretty much better than adaman in every way. I don't really see what you're trying to get at. Maybe you just didn't read the stats.
