do you ever wonder why people bitch that they can't setup an xp party because they can't find a rdm or bard? could it be, oh half them get burnt out and start other jobs? or that in general they have to competely work there asses off in xp parties? in xp parties there isn't a whole lot of glory being a support character, but there sure is when your a ranger or blm dropping 1k bombs on the mob. so when i spend 70 levels xping trying to make parties as most effecent as i can, do you think i deserve some sort of reward for my efforts? i realize this is true for all jobs, but how about throwing us supporting jobs a bone.
Yea, I do sorta see your point here bud. But PLD's are far more efficient with having a Joy really than RDM's cause of us being tanks and being frontline. I myself have no problem with a RDM getting a Joy really. Also, I don't know about why BRD's and RDM's quit the game (is it because there's so many of them out there that competition for parties are fiercer for them than any other classes??), cause if you look at it, there are other classes that have that same problem as well. Anyway, lets not get into that since the thing here is the original poster asking if he should switch off his weapons for a Joy. And, as for Rugals comment, it was because in his experience with the weapon, PLD's would do great with it more than a RDM would. Again, if the PLD's don't need it, then it should be a toss up with everyone. Least that's my 2byne bills.

P.S. Now if there's this much problem with a Sword that a PLD and a RDM can use, I wonder how much of a problem it would be for a HNM LS in dealing with who gets the Excalibur first.

I don't think anyone has mention yet that Joyeuse is considered a Rapier and consequently sucks against Undead.

Guess it all depends on if the LS is using some kind of officer-based "Need before greed" approach or pure DKP. Using NBG I don't see any Rdm getting a Joyeuse over a Pld. DKP is a different matter entirely and people's greed can often win out if they have higher DKP and little to no consideration.
