Hume Paladin?

I've gone through what I've wanted to be in this game for awhile, but now that I have discovered the joys of tanking I've decide to be a paladin

Now with that in mind, I don't really know what a hume paladin requires really. I see alot of threads for elvaan, galka, even taru but really no humes. What type of gear should I get +mp, +hp, +vit? I currently have a warrior belt +1 and a stamina ring, so far and I'm only a level 18 war, should I get the reflex ring for the agility bonus or should I get something with +mp or +hp? Sorry for all the questions, I just want my hume pally to be really good, no gimp here :spin:

Well, as a Hume, you are pretty much average in all your stats. Being middle of the road, Hume will not have trouble doing the PLD job well. Your MP pool, though not as high as Tarus, will be just fine for all curing and Flashing purposes. Just make sure to spread out your spells...

I would suggest going w/ Stamina rings to up your Vitality. Coupled w/ your Warr Belt +1, you'll be wearing these pieces for a good period of time. For earrings, you could use MP+ equip, though I stuck w/ Beetle Earrings (Mainly because previously, I had been leveling warrior, and I was very broke at the time ; ; ). Once you hit 35, a good majority of PLD opt for Drone earrings... As for Neck gear, I went from the Justice Badge to Holy Phial (Though the Phial will be pretty pricey, you'll be wearing this for a good period of time, too...)

Accessories for Hume shouldn't be too hard to decide on... I chose working on Vit simply because I felt that my HP/MP pools were adequate enough to work with. Just make sure to keep your Armor as up to date as you can (Farming will be your friend), and you should be fine... 'Hope you enjoy this job as much as I have...

I figured that I would have to focus more on +Vit as a hume paladin, should I wear 2 stamina rings or will 1 stamina and a reflex do? I was more worried if I would have to invest in mp gear, those for some reason on my server are expensive...

Hume PLD make excellent PLD. When played correctly they will rival and surpass Elvaans. You will probably need to focus more on VIT gear. Your MP will not be a problem for you.

As for Beetle Earrings, the Evasion penalty disagrees with me. Att+ really won't help your PLD much. As long as you hit often enough, Att+ isn't necessary. I'm not sure what level you can get HP+ or MP+ earrings, but at level 21, getting Aura Earrings or Energy Earrings (not sure which is wearable at 21) could give that extra MP for a cure.

If your options are Beetle Earrings or nothing, go with nothing.

In my opinion, the best paladins are humes or elvaan.

humes have a great MP pool for a melee, and can hold agro with their cures.

you will be agreat paladin as a hume, assuming you'll always have the best equipment

Humes make great PLD's but for HNM battles where high HP is really needed Elv is the best IMO, MP doesn't matter so much because you will have refresh/ballad etc... I believe hume is the easiest type of PLD to play.

personally i feel hume pld's are the best. thats just my opinion. i love my mp, elvaans really do have less and their extra mind seriously does nothing. i played with an elvaan whm the other day. his cure III healed for 4 more hp than mine did, and thats an elvaan whm compared to a hume pld.

Yup.. Humes don't NEED to work on any stat in particular... so you don't see much commentary on it

Galka and Elvann need MP

Elvann need + ACC also

Taru need TONS of +VIT and +HP

Hume and Mithra ..... who cares... it's hard to mess them up. +VIT, +HP, +MP, + ACC is all good... but you don't start out low in any of them... it's not corrective actions... it's specialization really. Although alot can be said for even dispersal of your equipment also...

+VIT and +HP is usually the goal for a Hume PLD after lvl 41 because of RDM refresh and bard mana regen helping with MP issues... +ACC is hardly an issue after buying a "life belt" also.

There is debate between +DEF and +VIT... it's best to improve both they work slightly different from each other... but this is the case for ALL PLD.

+HP vs +MP depends on race.... Hume can't really be 1-shoted... but tehy can be so heavily wounded from a weapon skill that it's hard to get a heal landed in time before the next 2 hits kill them.... you have to have a good *attentive* WHM... (not one who is eating while playing) when fighting things like spiders after lvl 45.
