What kind of party combos have you guys used to obtain your 300 points? My guess is that SAM, DRK, WAR @66+ would be a good partners since you can close a Lv3 Dark renkei with them and get 5 points per renkei. Are there any better alternatives to this?

Also, how difficult is the quest NM^^?

Ethreal and I just closed with a dark or two in onzozo on Torama's for a while. We basically competed to see who would close the renkei. hehe.

The nm is somewhat rough, 2 parties with 2 whm should work. Watch out for his death scissors though, I got one shotted for 1100+ dmg, luckily Ethreal and Elidrin were there to tank as well. If you go in with one tank it'll be pretty risky imho. He hits for 100-200 if I remember correctly, so gettin hit twice than death scissored is pretty much gg, even for a galka.

Always good to go with another paladin to back up for that NM. Like Bruce I was one-shotted for about 1100 damage too (hah my poor hume 94 vit!) but Porshia was the backup and the rest of the fight went without a hitch. Also having an extra paladin means the damage dealers can just pingpong hate by tricking off one or the other.

I basically stopped levelling and helped other people out on their coffer hunts for a while to get my 300 points.

How did you guys get past that Altepa Gate to fight the NM? I can't figure it out.

i kidnapped my WAR friend and went to kill Crabs in Kuftal, when i was trying to get rid of the latent effects. (well, actually, i Galka-napped lol) Steel Cyclone->Swift Blade all the time, thus 5 points each time. this is the quickest way u can go.

if u can't WAR-nap, DRK-nap, or SAM-nap anyone, then Tarutaru-nap..., no, grab anyone u can. (note that lvl 75 PLD who can use Ground Strike, Great Sword 250 WS, can also do lvl 3 renkai w/ u. and don't tell me kidnap is the right word to use for taru's lol) though 3 points only, u can still go w/ lvl 2 renkei and at least make some progress. (better than sitting down in Jueno doing nothing, ain't it?) be advised, THF who can only use Dagger and doesn't have Evisceration yet can't even do lvl 2 renkei w/ Sword. all other weapons have at least one WS that can chain w/ Sword to do lvl 2 renkei, provided that they have at least 200 in skills.

btw, if both u and ur kidnapped friend can sub SAM for meditate, things will be a little easier, but even without, u won't have a problem.

EDIT: forgot to mention this, but u were right, WAR, SAM, DRK, and lvl 75 PLD w/ Ground Strike r the only ones who can use WS' w/ Distortion attributes, which eventually chain w/ Swift Blade for Dark renkei.

there r 4 Columns in West Altepa, Emerald, Sapphire, Topaz, and Ruby, and when all of them r activated, the ALtepa Gate opens. locations and connected entrances for each r;

Emerald: D-10, enter from D-12
Sapphire: F-6, enter from G-5
Topaz: G-9, enter from J-9
Ruby: I-8, enter from J-9

Ruby is located near the Altepa Gate, so that'll be the last one to activate. also, for Emerald and Sapphire, u'll need to go through the weight-sensored doors of Quicksands, so u'll need to bring enough ppl to open them up.

there's no need to rush to activate all 4 in sequence. once activated, they stay activated for a while. (said to be about 30 min in real time, but not confirmed.) nevertheless, it's better to have ppl who know how to get to the Columns, so u won't have to struggle. study maps beforehand, if u r not sure.

note that Altepa Gate, when all 4 r activated, seems to be closed once u arrive at the gate, but it's because u r looking at it from a distance. as u reach closer, it'll be open.

3 requirements; lvl 71 or up, ur skill in the weapon is more than or equal to the certain number which varies depending on weapons (either 230, 240, or 250, and in this case of Savage Blade, it's 240), and that u r not undertaking any other WS quest.

once these requirements r met, NPC's specific to each weapons will offer u a quest along w/ trial weapons w/ which u have to get 300 points first; WS solo-1 point, lvl 1 renkei-2, lvl 2-3, and lvl 3-5. after u get 300 points, u trade the weapon back to the NPC who offered a quest, and then, u go fight NM's.

Do the mobs you use the weapon skills have to give you exp to count towards your total? If not, wouldn't it just be faster ( if you can't find any help) to just take over a zone that no-one goes to and do a quick 300 WS's? With Sam sub, you could do that pretty easly. Using defender as well, your damage will be lower, so you have more chances to use WS's on the stuff. That is, if you get points for non-exp mobs.

I only ask because I have only seen people fight stuff that give exp, and I don't know much about the quest.

For this WS quest, u need to kill enemies which will give u exp. If not, they are not counted in your 300 points to clear score.

thinking from the other way around, as long as the mob gives u some exp, it's just fine. and they include ones that u can solo pretty easy.

at lvl 71, a mob that's lvl 54 still scans as easy prey, not too weak. and they r the ones a party of lvl 47 or will hunt for leveling, thus won't be a big deal to defeat them alone.

however, doing this solo takes quite some times, so i'd recommend to grab ur friend to do this, as u could do this up to 5 times faster.

Me crosus and dioz did it a few days ago with NescienceAverted, the fight was pretty easy =x cros main tanked, i dont even think he got down to yellow.
