  • AF3 Orc Battle Difficulty?

One of my friend's said that it was a joke of a battle, and that he tanked it with berserk on. Another said a 2-PT-alliance wasn't enough, and another told me that the battle was just hard, and that one of the orcs couldn't be slept. Any strategies, party formations, or # of party members are appreciated~ Thanks~

Its not too bad. I did it twice with 11 and 12 58-60 people with no problems. Just have 2 tanks and 2 whms. One tank stays with the PLD NM with one healer keeping him alive while everyone else kills the ranger.
The only time we had someone die was when they stole aggro of the RNG from the PLD. A DRK 64 went guilliotine crazy and the ranger killed him in 4 or 5 hits. He hits HARD so beware.

it is a tough battle. i had 14 people lvl60~75.

a lvl75 rdm tanked the paladin orc while the rest of us started to massacre the ranger orc. the paladin tanking the ranger orc died and after we killed the ranger orc, the rest of us started to slaughter the paladin orc.

I had a easy time with that really. The ranger orc dies fast, I mean really fast. The only problem you'll have with him is his 2 hour. While it won't hurt the melee's that much if their HP is high, it does have a good chance of killing a mage in one hit if they happen to have aggro when he does it. I've seen it happen.

You can sleep the PLD Orc while you fight the ranger orc, this does help things a lot.

The Pld orc has a ton of defense, and loves to buff it's self. If you want to drive the mob crazy, just keep dispelling it. It keeps wasting time to buff it's self again, over and over. I found that a fully charged spirits withen really is nice for the PLD orc if you have the TP for it. Normal hits for me where doing jack for damage, so the 500 hit from spirits helps.

It wasn't that bad when I did it. I went with 12 people, only a few were 70 or close to it, and we only had one death (ranger 2 hour on a mage). We did it 4 times as well, so can't complain. Just make sure you fight the NM's after you have cleared off all the mobs, ASAP. You don't want them all poping while you're fighting the NMs and going after your mages.
If you define cowardice as running away at the first sign of danger, screaming and tripping and begging for the enemy no not see you. Then yes, Mr. Braveman, I guess I'm a coward

The mob you need to kill is the PLD Mob, as he drops the sinker, but unfortunately the Ranger Mob also aggros.

I have *heard* that using a Summoner (or someone with /SMN) to pull just the PLD mob using Carbuncle makes this battle a heck of a lot easier.

            Can someone confirm this?

one thing u can do is to have PLD orc running while u r killing the RNG orc. meaning, have WAR/THF provoke PLD and keep running in circulation until RNG is killed. RDM w/ gravity magic will also suffice. this way, u only need one player for PLD while u r killing RNG; no need to tank, no need to devote WHM to it, little to no dmg taken. PLD orc keep casting magics once in a while anyways, so he won't catch u.

there also a way to single pull but i am not sure it'll work on this one because orcs are same type. but worth a try if you wanna, use sneak or invis when you triger. i have done this twice and both time worked.
one time was for my AF3 it was 2 skeletons and a weapon mob used sneak trigger fast and run away from the triger spot and provoke single pulled.
2nd time was on a mission, used sneak to trigger the spawn and only one out of 2 poped mob aggro and singled. also 2 different type of mobs.
but uh... back to topic did this AF fight twice... easy win really. 2 tank needed atleast. 2 PTs of 58-60 should be enough.

Compare it to the whm af3 battle, or the rdm af3 battles, both of which require a good 18 people, and you still stand a good chance of dying. Or compare it to the samurai AF3 where you can *only* take 6 people into the BC, and yet you have to fight 3 unsleepable mobs.

PLD Af3 may seem tough, but it's actually pretty easy.

very easy battle, only concern was the orc champions and dreadnaughts that might add during the battle.

Whm AF3.... the NM shadow spams dimensional death like no tomorrow, and RDM AF3... murphy absorbs about 200 HP a hit with all the usual annoying ghost crap.

those are the 2 hardest AF3s i've done... the SAM one was very hard too, fighting 3 demons that absolutely wrecked our Pld in 10 seconds. (or was it 5?...)

Astral Flow... boom, pld goes down. We managed to beat it though i dropped dead before putting out my 2nd sidewinder...

This fight was easy, did it with 7 ppl. 3 lvl 73+ and 4 lvl 60.
WAR, MNK, PLD all lvl 73+
PLD, DRK, BLM, RDM lvl 60
No 2 hours used, no one died

Its easy when everyone listens in this fight. I did it with a alliance of lvl 57-60 (I say about 14 total one got d/c during the battle) it was quite easy as long as ranger orc drops dead ASAP One thing we did was we took the time to clear that camp site out clearing orc champions, farkillers and warchief. We had some odd setups for this battle 4 monk 4 drk 2 tanks 2 whm 1 rdm 1 bard. Nobody used two hours until we all went after pld orc with our 2hs after orc pld used it. I think we had a slight advantage during the orc pld battle, cause there was a lvl 75 tarutaru Japanese whm healing us when one of our whm d/c
