Can I just skip it and get something else that's cheaper? I'm not quite sure I'm all that fond of +7 Vit costing 1,2 Mil <.<; Heck, I wasn't even fond of my level 40 axe costing 70k x.x

Once I get Paladin to level 40, I plan on completely ditching warrior. After all, with paladin I get to use something I love, and always picture whenever I think of Knights-- Swords and Shields.
I didn't dare use one as a warrior, so I off-handed the sword, and no one complained .

Anywho, once again, Good guide, great information, and hopefully some paladin in the level 57-66 Range can help out with the Gluttony thing, seeing as I highly doubt I'll ever be able to get the drop from the Skeleton NMs I believe it is( Heard so from some friends on my old server ).

Doesn't help much that my wife when she did PLD had a Gluttony :p She loved that darn thing.
That depends on you. If you can afford a Gluttony, by all means, go for it. If you can't, then I say don't. I thought that it was a standard since it's the most VIT you can get off back then (and stilll is for that level), and it was easier for me to hold hate with Sword and Shield combo (cause of Shield Bash), BUT, I would say, I know a couple of friends that level'd with Staff (Weeee of Kujata did that I think), but I dunno. Staff IMO doesn't really start getting good til you get Spirit Taker anyway, but -25% physical dmg is good too. So I dunno, up to you. That would be one that you may wanan look at.

P.S. And yes, it drops off Skull of Gluttony which appears randomly when one of the candle's are lit by a flint stone.

          Re: Paladin Guide and FAQ

definetally get a Gluttony sword, i did around that level, since a Paladin's main use is a meat tank and a lot of his moves lower there ATT stats, the Gluttony sword adds on extra damage, when in the end will actually help the PTs overal amount of damage out put. ^^

              Re: Paladin Guide and FAQ

For newer paladins looking for equipment, this guide is awfully out of date.
For armour, don't go for the centurion's at 30, but go for the Eisen or Kampf set.
If you're a race with low vit (I'm a Taru!) you need the full Kampf set. It will set you back a bit but a lot of it will last you til AF!

                  Re: Paladin Guide and FAQ

Nice guide, my PLD is currently 37 with 500 tnl, and i am debating if I should take it farther. I have 2 sets of AF now, and the whole hassle with doing coffer hunts again, is about the only thing stopping me now.

Once my DRK hits 75 which should be mid July, I will see what I do with PLd after that. I know I will us this guide though, It has a lot of useful information. Very good write up.

Someone should revise this guide and add a bunch of the new pieces that make tanking gewd.

imac2much aka Rugal is still around I think. Drop him a PM and ask if you can "amend" his FAQ to update it.

Wow, I remember reading this guide way back when in early '04. He kindly replied to some PMs I had too

Aside from the gear information, the guide still holds its own nicely. SE did claim that CHR does not affect provoke (in contradiction to what the guide says), but they did not state whether CHR helps "maintain" hate longer. While that is a difficult theory to prove, it still seems to hold water to this day.

In general, most exping PLDs probably want to put enmity+ on whatever slots they can and put some DD gear on other slots. I don't think VIT rings are worth it. Using accuracy+ or attack+ gear to bump up your damage is usually worthwhile.

With enough DD gear and a smart PT, a PLD can get away with going purely DD (Haubergeon or SH, str/accuracy/attack gear). It depends on what the PT needs.

Gear for HNMs is probably something that is not covered in his guide, but back when he wrote it, no one was doing the HNM scene. I don't know if that is something people want to see though.

I should point out that pld work extremely well with /bst and with /dnc!

I soloed pld to 60 using /bst without field manuals and when bst pets took xp.

All I did was fed decent challenge to even matched pets to very tough/incredibly tough mobs to guarantee my 200-300 xp factor.

Soloed up to 64 with /dnc using field manuals in Xacarbard which was boring and easy.

I then partied to 70 after that when I got really bored.

Im the only player on Unicorn who has done this effectively.
