  • Blade: Ei tests

So after an okish pty on nin, getting it to 60, i decided to try to test whether or not blade ei is similar to spirits within only difference with less hp then more.

60nin/30war vs a tough Worker Pehredo.
Weapons Buboso dmg 25, delay 190, off hand hornetneedle dmg 16 delay 150
Katana skill 191, dagger skill 198

    668/1057 - 63% hp 122% tp: 26 dmg
    206/1042 - 19% hp 255% tp: 174 dmg
    83/1057 - 7% hp 300% tp: 94 dmg
So safe to say hp affects it some manner, just not insanely high or low. Least from these initial results. Only return tp i gotten down was 4% off the 668 hp try.

Gear: ninja af body, legs and feet. emp hairpin, dodge earrings x2, rajas ring, ulthalam's ring, swift belt, nomad's mantle, royal guard's collar and bailathorn. Food: sole sushi
Swapped hauby on for lower evasion for the 206/1042 test so -15 hp is from that.
    Stats w/o haub: str: 60+11, dex 60+16, vit 56+3, agi 60+11 int 50, mnd 40, chr 44, atk 262, def 214
    w/ haub: str: 60+16, dex 60+21, vit 56+3, agi+11, int 50, mnd 40, chr 44, atk 277, def 217.

Anyone who has time to play around on nin wanna post their tests or try to figure out the mods please do.

I don't think it's safe to say this at all considering you only WS'ed three times.

You need a much better test for this, and I look forward to your results once you've worked it out.

It's a dark elemental attack, and you're fighting a Tough rated mob, which probably meant it got resisted in some ways. Try it on a something easier to get more consistent results.

And yes, 3 is way too less, especially on an elemental weaponskill.

Try to make it easier to read as well, I struggled initially to understand the provided data.

I suppose I can go out and mess around on a colibri as well when I get home from work :p

It's been said, but needs more sample size.

I'll test more again once I can afford more tools. And sole sushi to waste. And Easy prey to Even match mobs. Even though those the Worker Pehredo was cake to solo w/o support.

Why are you testing on tough mobs? Testing should be done on TW stuff first. You're making it unnecessarily hard (and expensive) on yourself while at the same time introducing additional factors (INT variance, resist rates) into the mix. Also, what makes you think it'd be a reverse Spirits Within?

Wiki claims it "Delivers a Dark elemental attack" and that it "Ignores Perfect Dodge and Invincible." If true, then it's definitely a purely magical attack.

Go get some TWTBW mobs, do the WS 3 times at 100 TP and see if you get consistent damage. Odds are you will, because that's how magic WS work. Do it again with low HP, you should get the same damage. Do it again at 200 TP, there should be a damage increase. You should get the same results regardless of HP and weapon DMG.

Colibri are unnecessarily high level, and annoying, and on top of that they're irregularly magic-resistant. I wouldn't recommend them for this sort of testing.

Cause they were the closest mobs to me when i decided to try it. I only wanted to test if the statements on the wiki talk page had any sort of fact to them since there's practically no data on this ws to begin with.

That explains the sample size of 3. :p

Back in my day, I had to Bind 60 crabs both ways while relying on someone to level sync me to a particular level just to see if Ranged Attacks broke bind, with a /clock on Macro line and with unfavorable results. And I had to like it whether I liked it or not!
Last edited by Yellow Mage; 06-02-2009, 01:10 PM. Reason: Why did I do that Level Sync part again? I think if I ever wanted to waste that much time again I'd just Bind crabs in the Dunes at this point.

                  Re: Blade: Ei tests

Back in the day I had to /sea region 60-75 SAM in Jeuno and ask non-seeking SAMs if they wanted to waste their 2-hour helping me test something in Diorama-Purgonorgo, and then ask them to do a very specific Meikyo Shisui Skillchain using a Lv.1 Katana. And I still nearly died.

Incidentally I met one of my best in-game friends that way.
