  • Dual Weilding with Different Delay

    Soo...

If I"m a bst/nin, and my delay for my maneater is 276, and my delay for my Pick of Trials is 312, and maneater is in my main hand and Pick on my offhand... how is delay calculated?

It goes for any weapon really. If i have a higher delay in my offhand, will that make my attacks all around go slower? How does this work?

Doesn't matter which is main and which is off-hand for delay. It's the two delays added together, and then reduced by percentage based on your level of Dual Wield (without bonuses from gear etc. /NIN reduces delay by 15% from 50-75 and 10% before that).

wow, so that means my interval of attacks are reduced, but i still hit twice. I understand now, thanks! Though how TP is calculated still confuses me...

Take the delay you end up with for the two weapons after adjustment ((312 + 276) * .85 = 499.8) and divide that by two (249.9), and each hand gets the TP of a single-wield weapon with that delay. (In this case, 5.0 + [(249 - 180) * 6.5] / 270, which is 6.661111, and gets truncated to 6.6 per hit.) My math may be a little off because I'm not sure when/if rounding occurs on the reduced delay, but that's the basic idea.

At least delay will be calculated; I don't believe weapon skill points will be if the Trial weapon is offhanded.

Typically you want the one with higher base damage in your main hand. Its what's used for base damage on weapon skills.
