Is there some kind of modifier that shows you how much a stat actually effects the NIN job? Either that or a formula. I want to go NIN as soon as I obtain the job and would like to see how much each stat effects it so I can determine gear selection as I'm leveling. I guess an example would be if an item had more (+def / +agi > +1 evasion). I tried looking up topics with something similar but couldn't really find anything. Any info or direction would be helpful Thanks!

well for NIN you want to get AGI stuff first, then depending on race DEX, followed by STR

but honestly you dont need to worry about Stat gear untill late 20s

So would you say +agi outweighs evasion at lower levels? Ofcourse excluding items like lv24. Emp Hairpin. One good example would be how do I know when to replace lv7. bounded boots (I think thats the eq of leaping boots). Also my race is Hume.

Honestly, I think up-and-coming NINs should prioritize damage over everything else, unless you want to suck at both damage and holding hate. Evasion comes second.

2 DEX gives 1 Acc, 2 Acc gives +1% hit rate.
2 STR gives 1 Attack, and every 4 STR increase your DMG by 1.
2 AGI probably give 1 Evasion, and 2 Evasion probably gives the mob -1% hit rate.
        2 VIT gives 1 Defense.
Enmity +1 increases the hate of actions you do by 1%

I don't know what you're expecting to hear besides that.

No thats perfect. Thats exactly what I wanted to know. I guess my last question would be if that formula holds from lv1 to 75.

Yes, those numbers are true for every job at every level. All stats have caps but most of them are almost impossible to reach in EXP except under very extreme conditions at 75.

The main advice I would tell you is not to get too caught up with base stats. In general, they don't do a whole lot. It's usually better to get Attack, Accuracy, Defense, and Evasion directly. Also, I wouldn't recommend using Ichi spells for hate.

              well EVA would be better

              I would say

              AGI >> DEX >> STR
              or
EVA >> ACC >> ATT if your looking for pure stat boost

Again, Evasion as a top priority is really not recommended. Your damage will suck, your hate holding will suck, you'll kill slower, you're still going to take a beating while solo tanking, and it's completely useless whenever the mob isn't on you, whereas +Attack is useful 100% of the time. And a NIN really should be duo tanking with someone else until Utsusemi: Ni.

NIN is not a DD its a DoT

besides there is enough EVA gear out there, to equip yourself well, and still have plenty of places for ATT gear, then eat sushi, and your good to go.

It doesn't matter what NIN is. Doing more damage is highly beneficial to the job. DoT isn't even something you "are," it's something you do.

The only piece with heavy amounts of +Evasion is Empress Hairpin. Everywhere else, you have to scrounge up small amounts of +Evasion while sacrificing Attack in the process.

                      Re: Stat modifier

Nice setup for NIN at level 16 would be...

full set of Bone set +1 (minus hands) EVA+4
                      Traveler's Mantle EVA+3
San d'Orian Gloves ATT+3 (opps forgot they could not equip battle gloves)
                      Warrior's Belt +1 HP+4 VIT+3
                      Bone Earring +1 ATT+2 EVA-1

                      Mithra
                      Courage Ring STR+2
                      Courage Ring STR+2
                      or
                      Courage Ring STR+2
                      Balance Ring DEX+2

                      Other races
                      Balance Ring DEX+2
                      Balance Ring DEX+2

                      total at level 16
                      HP+4
                      EVA+5
                      ATT+10

NIN can't use Battle Gloves; San d'Orian Gloves are highly recommended. I'd also like to point out to the OP that while Bone +1 is great but it's also very pricey; too pricey for the +1 evasion each piece provides if you ask me. If you have that much money to toss around, perfect; if not, don't sweat it. Also, Mighty Rings and Vision Rings blow Courage and Balance Rings out of the water, and Mithra don't have a significant enough DEX/AGI difference to warrant gearing any differently. Personally I'd recommend the Mighty Rings; +11 Attack at Level 14 is damned hard to beat.

Evasion won't matter when fighting IT mobs anyway unless you are a THF, PUP or DNC. Their level advantage grants too much accuracy.

Meh, A ranked evasion on NIN says otherwise. It's easy to evade/parry 1/4th of incoming attacks in those pre-30s levels w/out major gear investment.

I would agree to never worry about evasion if you're leveling a job with C rank or lower eva, though (not to say it won't do much good, I just wouldn't prioritize it at this point).

For reducing damage taken, if evasion is not available, than the second option is stack up defense when all shadows are stripped.

As a reminder, a dead NIN cannot tank, but evasion/parry/defense is useless if the mob is not attacking the NIN.
