Ok I was just going to go buy and quest all the spells I need for ninja 37 and below. Im 27 nin right now and I have utsumi already. I was wondering what are the most important spells I should make sure I get first before I buy/quest the other ones?

Re: What ninjutsu to get below 37
IF your just going to go to 37 and then quit. Slow, Blind, Paralyze, Tonko, Utes 1 & 2. Then use the Tsurara's to cap it. Really you don't need the other buffs with a nin as a subjob. If you plan on going to 75 then all of them. Since you can use them to debuff mobs and use the Ele wheel for hate situations.
Nin75, Bst75. Drk61, War61, Rdm40, All other jobs are 37. All 3 starting city missions completed. All Zilart missions completed. All CoP missions completed. TouA completed.

Re: What ninjutsu to get below 37
As Malacite said, the enfeebles are very handy to have on hand. And they are all questable, so there's really no reason not to. If you've already quested Utsusemi: Ichi, then you may as well quest the rest.
You don't need the ichi level elemental spells, but they are cheap as hell, and can be handy for leveling your skill on random mobs if nothing else.

Re: What ninjutsu to get below 37
Wow... Ninja doesn't even really start to get fun until like 40+ when you get the elemental Ni's and the Ni enfeebles...
All of the spells prior to 40, save for Utsu Ni and Jubaku are pretty useless... I guess Kurayami, and Hojo Ichi aren't bad if they are all you have access to... but I'd much rather have the Ni versions.
Ichi elementals are patheticly usless... infact I think it's pretty hard to actually wheel with the ichi's AND get their Debuff effect since it only lasts for a few seconds.
I'd say, if you're only going to 37, be sure to quest Tonko Ichi, Utsu Ichi, Kurayami Ichi, Hojo Ichi, and Jubaku Ichi. Buy/BCNM Tonko Ni, and Utsu Ni.
You won't NEED the ichi debuffs, unless you REALLY want them. With the casting delay they have though because their effect duration is so low you'll rarely see much damage and even more rarely will you actually wheel the debuff.

Re: What ninjutsu to get below 37
Although not suitable for the wheel, Ichi -ton Ninjutsu are not worthless, but it takes party cooperation to put them to good use.
The duration is 15 seconds, which is plenty of time to get in an SC effect and an MB. Or, to ensure a big nuke would be less likely to be resisted.
Kurayami and Hojo are good especially when no one in the party can (or would) cast blind or slow. Kurayami, in particular, has decent amount of enmity associated with it, which helps with tanking.
I'm not a big advocate of skipping spells. Just seems... wrong...Bamboo shadows sweep the stars,
yet not a mote of dust is stirred;
Moonlight pierces the depths of the pond,
leaving no trace in the water.

Re: What ninjutsu to get below 37
I agree completely about not skipping spells... the only one I did skip while leveling Ninja was Jubaku, and when I finally did quest jubaku(about 5-10 levels after I should have) I really kicked myself in the butt for not having it sooner, now I swear by the scroll.
I think it's also worth to note that Ninjutsu magic seems to be less likely for resistance... I dunno why by I know I land slow and blind much more often as a Ninja. I can even land the enfeebs when mages in the endgame LS can't.
As far as the duration for debuff goes, I was under the impression that is was 6-8 seconds. Also, with the TP Burn/MUST-HAVE-PL born Generation of levelers... it's rare that parties will even coordinate skillchains, much less expect a tanking Ninja to use ele-debuffs before level 40.

Re: What ninjutsu to get below 37
I just started a ninja today and got to lvl 9, and I love it. I am a taru as well, and thinking about going further then 37 with the job. Is it worth it? and if so can someone point me to the quests for the ninjitsu scrolls? My main is a 58 BLM, and would that be enough to quest alone or would I need help?
