  • Ninja and the Kraken Club....

Last nite Me and a fellow LS Rdm duo'd up in arms and a KC dropped. Since my friend already had one i took it and i've been debating on either AHing it or bazzaring it or just keeping it and using it...

So first question...IS it worth it for a Nin to main or off hand it? ( I'm 75 Nin)

Second, would it be foolish for me to use it in EXP (for rdm @ 65) and Merit parties?

Sell it. unless you plan to en- and ballista because you will do nothing but make the mob spam tp moves. It is a toy, not worth the gil imo.

WARs have a B ranked skill with sword. Any WAR who wants to use Joyeuse and/or Ridill poors 8 merits into sword upgrades, bringing their cap from 250 to 266. Edit: those WARs also tend to have Suppa to further boost sword skill.

NIN has an E ranked skill with club. That means your skill caps at a dismal 200 at level 75. How many merits are you going to need to salvage that mess?

DRKs have a C- rank club skill at least. I've heard of RNGs using K. Club. Not sure how they justify doing so with their E ranked skill. But then, RNG is about big spike damage. NIN is heavily dependent on DoT, so I wouldn't put NIN in the same boat as RNG when it comes to using K. Club for TP building.

Suggestion: if you don't have your club skill capped, go out and use that K Club to cap it... and then sell it.

Any Joyeuse/Ridill war should have suppa, its key. If they have merited weapons they should also have sword merited if they are serious otherwise they tend to fall very far behind.

Nin can get 216 skill on club (merits) which means on your own you are going to miss a good deal. It doesn't really improve you as much as people think it does. Not worth the 42M you can get on kujata. That 42M can pimp the shit out of your nin. (don't even say club torque because you will get hurt)

Drks kraken only works due to bloodweapon and brds boosting the hell out of them, only on hnm zerg types.

Rngs use kraken for a gun build it takes alot of gear, if i remember the set up right, it is not for everyone.

Ninjas can also almost attack at hundred fists speed with march, and katanas will out damage clubs.

          Justification:

          Accuracy Bonus IV: +48
          ---
          Difference: -3

That and Slug Shot damage having nothing to do with what they equip in their main hand slot.

I'm a DRK75, so I'd end up keeping it, but if I just had RDM & NIN I'd most likely cash it in for other items I need or wanted. It's useful for RDM in the fact that you can cap Club in quick order, but pretty much no use for NIN.

Anybody else noticing RMT ads on the page today? I've come across 2 or 3 so far. I thought Management was dead set against RMT ads posted on the site.

Y'know, I never thought about what would happen if a full Kraken proc'd off a Jump. lol

But I would like to bust it out to cap Club, or use on Latents with building TP, (As if DRK needs any more help building TP.) or use it as SAM/RNG to spam Sidewinder. If I had one, I'd keep it.

why dont you hold on to it for the time being. dont be so hasty to sell it. it's a very rare item and you might want it in the future, who knows. just hold on to it and see how it works out for you. if you really have no use for it ever and ever, sell it.

kc really isnt an item that drops to rock bottom prices b/c it will never be a common item like they did with thf knife or alky bracelets.

if u ever decide to lvl drk, you'll pretty much have an auto-pass into most hnmls.

as far as using it goes, for nin i wouldnt really use it just because your skill is so low in it. however if you do use it for nin, it goes in off-hand always. keep your best katana main hand so you can spam those blade:jin's. for rng, it doesnt really matter which hand its in. its for the mere purpose of gaining tp and like armando said, it doesnt matter how your main hand skill is, rng dont calcuate dmg with that skill anyways. it'll be your marks/archery skills that do the calculations as a rng.

I'd hold onto it personally. Like Omni said, it's a very rare (and powerful) item (in the right job's hands) and it's also great for silly fun (See MNK Hundred Fists + Kraken XD)

Sure, you could sell it for a whole crapload of gil. But you can always get more gil. Odds are you won't see another one of those clubs ever again.
