Re: Ninja index???
Wiki is your friend. this is the main page
and this one is Race/subjob selection...
As the guide says "The choices listed here are by no means the only ones available. Feel free to try out any combination that suits your fancy."
go with what you think works well solo, though try and folow the guide for parties as sme people just don't like people being different to the common way of doing things.

Re: Ninja index???
Just my POV...
Here's what you can expect as a Ninja:
1. FAST Party Invites - People will invite you like crazy, especially after you get Utsusemi Ni. Infact, party invites will be so overwhelming at times people may offer your gil to jump parties and such.
2. Mixed Feelings - Some people love you, more people hate you... reguardless they all want to use you, cause they know a good ninja doesn't know what it feels like to take damage.
3. Pitiful Damage - I have a level 70 Nin, working for 75 and I am just getting to the point that I feel SLIGHTLY OKAY about the damage I deal Melee wise. Reguardless of how much damage you do, Ninja is still pretty good as far as Ballista and Brenner goes though, you can also Solo stuff better then most DD jobs, fights will be long though.
4. Money Hole - as a Ninja, you will be expected to spend A LOT of money, between tools, armor and weapons. Because GOOD Ninja Weapons are usually all highlevel BCNM drops, And Good Ninja armors are usually wearable by both Monks and Samurai, sooo demand is high for the peices and synth levels to make them are usually high as well.
5. Draining - I really feel that Ninja is a job that's not for everyone, mainly because so many people complain about it. Leveling as a Ninja is draining, you need to do many things in every fight just to hold hate as best as you can and as I said before, it's very costly just to gain a few levels, not to mention to keep your equipment up to par.
All in all, I have my loves and my hates with Ninja, I do love the versatillity and the abillity to really customize yourself in anyway. I plan to finish out Ninja to 75 and then merrit the crap out of the job until I'm satisfied that I've beaten the horse beyond death, but even from a level 70 standpoint, the road ahead still seems very long.
Good luck in your decision to become a Ninja, If you are still set to be a Ninja after reading over my points, I'm sure you'll love the job.

Re: Ninja index???
Everything Eji said is true... Well exacept for the damage part. You could potentially do the most or near the most damage in your party based on your gear setup. I know I personally did the most or 2nd most damage in many of the groups I joined(from 20-50ish and then 65+). Then again NIN was my 3rd job I was leveling to 75, so my gear was fairly good.
As far as draining goes. Well thats very true. I constantly found myself needing to take a break from leveling every few levels once I reaches the 60's (not so much to make money, though I did do farming during that downtime, but because I was tired of staring at the screen for hours straight without blinking).

Re: Ninja index???
Blah... for the most part in exp parties my damage is right around 20-40 dmg per swing. At lower levels it was even worse... and I do think I'm have pretty good gear, although Xp ninja is hard to gear at lowerlevels cause you really never know what you NEED.
Whether that be gearing for Evasion or Gearing for Attack. Granted Ninja is my first 75, so it may just be like you said... but aside from the rare stuff from CoP missions and zilart missions, I do feel I used very good gear.
I always used +1 Katana's or the best weapons for my level, usually geared myself for +Acc mainly and focused on +Str, +Dex, and +Agi... with minor focus in +eva and +attk, still usually gear +attack over +eva as long as I could do so without sacrificing one for the other.
Early on, it's really controled what gear you can use... the further in I go though, seems like there are many more choices in gear.
Like I said though, now that I'm level 70 and I got the extra +Attack from /Warrior, and the starting + Crit% weapons with the Fudo. I'm starting to hit regular hits in xp parties for about 40-55 dmg and then 70-90 dmg crits. Sooo.. Things are really begining to flesh out, don't feel much like I could solo effectively or DD, but it'll come soon with more gear and stuff.

Re: Ninja index???
Well hit by hit I didn't do the most for sure. But due to dual weild and having considerably better acc then most other people (not to mention constant haste and brd songs from 65+) I was doing fairly well.
Its possible the people I exped with from 20-45ish were just gimp too =p

If so, be informed that it doesn't exist because no one made one. Well, since I'm probably the only (foolish) person who makes those "Index" threads (Red Mage, Black Mage, and EXP), it may be more precise to say there isn't one because I didn't make one.
Not that it should stop someone else from making such an Index for Ninja.Bamboo shadows sweep the stars,
