Yes, it may have been asked before, but i wasnt there and i didnt see the thread when searched so here it is. Is taru going to be viable in playing a nin? are its stats too different that is non-playable or is it possible to overcome them? I would like to play a couple jobs on my taru and i would like them to succeed rather than just be denied from groups because of my race selection. I know thief is able to play taru well and ranger too, i was hoping nin would be ok too so any help would be great.

Re: Race selection
Afraid I'm not sure what the best ninja is comprised of, but here are a couple of sources you can look over for raw statistical information.
If you play long you will probably try all the jobs up to a certain point and some races come better or worse equiped depending on your standpoint.
When I chose my race the factors I was looking at was what kind of character look did I want.
I thought the taru were cute but didn't like the idea of looking like a kid so that was out. Galka were a bit too much of a bulky/scruffy look which put them off my choicelist,. Knowing the game backstory has these poor guys being comparable to Ken dolls was just a humorious addition. Mithra you had to play a femal and I didn't want to. That left hume and elvan for me. Elvan struck my fancy more than hume so I've kept the same character since.
Here's the sites I mentioned there are others out there but these seemed more prudent for what you were asking as to what makes the most "ideal" combo.
There ARE differences race to race SE designed it this way, but nothing sever enough to get you snubbed in normal XP parties. Taru the most noticable difference is low hp and high mana while the galka are the reverse. Good luck I sugest choosing a character you like the idea of playing, but if your hovering between a few choices that are equally appealing it never hurts to research a little also.

Skill > Gear > Race
NIN tanks are in demand enough (at least after level 37) that no one will even look at your race before making a decision on inviting.Lyonheart

Re: Race selection
Why everyone is so worried about choosing a race not for their personal taste but for the success with how they can play that job? So if there is a race "anal monk" that can play the job monk awesomly, would you choose the race "anal monk"? I don't think so lol. Choose what you like, not what you don't like.

However I'll agree that the player skill is very important. My only contention is there are differences and if your aware it makes it easier to find ways to compensate for weaknesses and enhance strengths.
Invite rate is not overly race influenced I can't think of many people who look at race when forming a pt. I'm perfectly happy to have a taru war in the pt as long as he doesn't have a chip on his shoulder. Same goes for any other combo as long as the player isn't a prick and is the job/level I need he's in. I also hate underleveled subs but thats another matter.
My point is the race is one of many minor considerations, I notice the difference in nq and hq gear as a minor performance addition, but like race I don't stress over not having it.
Player skill, Subjob, equipment, race, food choice are all components and you just need to balance what you've got for your playstyle since race you have for all jobs and some will be optimal and some not so much (No matter which one you pick) I'ld choose a race you enjoy rather than just pure stats since you'll level several jobs over a character lifetime.
