Howdy, just had a few questions and I wanted to see if I could get a little bit of help on these things.

From the top, I've just started leveling Nin over the passed week. I tore through the dunes in no time and now I'm sitting at about level 19(1K to 20) and ready to roll into Qufim with my static. In Valkurm everything went pretty easy, used Mokuto +1 x2 and snagged up a Flame Sword for level 18 on to add a bit more damage.

I'm finally starting to find the groove of exactly when to use Utsusemi and with heavy tanking amor/high defense armor I don't get trashed (as bad) when shadows go down. Only big problem I'm having is with my Elemental Ichi's. They work well to drop a Monster's resistance before a Blade: Retsu (adds on like an extra 10-30 Dmg depending on TP) but other then that they do like no damage. We're talking between 0-15 dmg at most.

The only reason for this that seems viable to me is probably because of my low INT. My Ninjutsu Skill is sitting around 35 and I'm sure is close to capp for level 19. But if anyone can confirm the elemental ichi's being reliant on INT stat I could also use a good suggestion for INT+ armor for this stage of the game with decent defense.

I'm pretty sure the -ton ninjutsu are affected by INT (and Magic Attack Bonus). I'm also pretty sure it's not worth bothering to get INT gear for NIN before Ni tier of -ton ninjutsu.

INT +5 seems to buy about ~3 extra point of damage per casting for the Ni level spell when I use NIN/RDM in BCNM40. That's probably about as much as you can expect from Ichi -ton's as well. Just think of them as debuffs only instead of a damage spell, and use accordingly.

Unless your a Taru/Hume NIN(I'm assuming Hume have 2nd best INT, could be wrong) and stack on alot of +INT items(which at your level would probably be +6 if you get 2 +3INT rings, and to my knowledge that's about it really since NIN's can't use maces) and sub BLM at 20 to get the Magic Attack Bonus, their really worthless. The elemental jutsu to boost Retsu is never a bad thing, especially if your waiting on another melee to get TP for a skillchain, but overall the level 15 wheel is kind of useless because of the long cast time.

Just stick with your regular debuff jutsu's, shadows and Throwing Shuriken(seriously, cap Throwing on the side if it isn't and do this, the damage is crazy).

        Re: New Ninja

Dont bother with getting int, The main focus of the ele wheel is to make a mob weaker to a spell the blm are gonna burst with. The second thing the ele wheel is good for is to force more of a hate spike. The third use for the ele wheel is to make the mob weaker to your debuffs. Say paralyze is earth based, You want to use the ele wheel to make it weaker to earth base spells.. Sorry the last one might not be the correect elements, but i think you get the basic idea..

Early on like in the dunes an quifim you should really only be using 2 spells, Utsus, an Tsusra (spelling is off) The reason for the Ele i noted is because its cheap specially if your trying to cap your ninjitsu.

Really elemental wheel doesnt play an important role for the most part until you hit the Ni line, Then they are fast, a little bit more effective for the cass i pointed out..

yeah, Elemental: Ichi are for enfeebling, not damage.

However, a lv51 NIN with good macros, /BLM, INT EQ, and elemental staves, is a VERY beautiful thing.
