    Hey guys

I was just wondering if the new changes to resistance affected NIN's using the elemental wheel during those 40 and 50 lvl caps. I remeber reading about it for HNMs and such but I don't recall it affecting BCNMs . . .does it?

Just checking because about to do some COP ^ ^

    Thanks

    P.S: Um . . .I don't know how the "amp;" got in to the title . . .. maybe I wasn't paying attention ; ; Sorry

    Re: NIN & COP

1: From what I understood it would only be nerfed if you cast the same spell over and over, IE: Katon: San repeatedly. With NIN's this wouldn't apply since we go through 8 different spells at a time.

2: If the above is wrong, that's going to suck alot for my regular runs of the Under Observation BCNM> Probably doing one in the next week or two so I guess I'll see what happens then and post the results.

      Re: NIN & COP

Magic resistance goes up regardless of which spell you choose. The resistances are not tracked separately for each element, so no, cycling the wheel doesn't get you any better results than spamming the same element as far as NM resistances.

Hmm i dunno if Ninjitsu is covered under the magical resistence clause. I know Ninjitsu is effected by silence. Yet you cant get magical aggro.

Nin75, Bst75. Drk61, War61, Rdm40, All other jobs are 37. All 3 starting city missions completed. All Zilart missions completed. All CoP missions completed. TouA completed.

          From the PlayOnline update notes
          http://www.playonline.com/pcd/topics...75/detail.html
          Accumulative Magic Resistance

Currently, a large number of players can team up to overpower the enemy in certain battles by hitting the enemy repeatedly with only elemental magic. This tactic has had an unbalancing effect on the game, and we decided a change was needed.

However, altering the effects of powerful magic spells would have a negative effect on black mages and other magic users. Rather than altering magic effects or strengthening monsters, we determined that the adjustment to solve this issue should be as small as possible in scope and affect other gameplay mechanics as little as possible.

Therefore, for the next update we have decided to implement an accumulative magic resistance effect for all monsters whose strength reads "impossible to gauge."

We have also made several other adjustments to minimize the effect of this change on black mages and other magic users. For example, a party fighting a notorious monster with one to two black mages will probably not notice the difference.

However, we have decided to give Bahamut in the quest "The Wyrmking Descends" and Diabolos in the quest "Waking Dreams" a stronger accumulative magic resistance than other notorious monsters.

          -Types of Affected Magic Damage
When a notorious monster is repeatedly hit by the following types of magic, it will accumulatively build magic resistance:

Black magic (elemental), white magic (divine), ninjutsu, magical blood pact abilities, magical blue magic, magical weapon skills (e.g., Spirits Within and Red Lotus Blade), and certain job abilities (e.g., Chi Blast and Mijin Gakure)

LoL good catch Icemage. I never bothered to read that update. since my blm has been 37 for ages, An the simple fact ninjitsu elemental spells are worthless. An only real function is to use a spell to weaken a mob for your debuffs to land an stick longer.

              1. blm never noticed much difference when i weakened a mob to their spells.

              2. magic bursting them didnt do anything for my hate against 700+ WS, an Nukes.

              3. you get the ni line just in time for other classes to start getting better melee gear.

That's not entirely true. I've partied with Tarutaru NIN/BLMs who did quite respectable damage and held hate pretty well with Ni-level ninjutsu nuking. Takes some specialized gear (HQ staves, Moldavite Earring, etc.) but it can be done.

Works for NIN/WAR too, but slightly less effective (but you make up for that with Provoke).

I asked a Mithra NIN to as DD for fighting CoP 2.5 (Mammets BCNM) twice, using NIN40/RDM20. He was easily the top damage dealer thanks to his elemental Ninjutsu (yes, I parsed those battles), and backup cured, to boot.

I had a friend who almost beat Aquarius using Ni-level jutsu alone. Wheeled and wheeled and wheeled for a good while. My WHM friend mostly backed him up. His NIN was only 71 at the time. Did pretty good until it got fugly at 15% I believe. It's a good thing there was a 75 BST nearby who was kind enough to help them (My NIN friend died and then WHM went down) He claimed it enough for WHM to reraise, RIII ninja and then invite BST (There were RMTs back then claiming this NM long after SE changed the drops... RMT are idiots)

Ahh yeah i remember the last guy i saw try that was. The first fight i ended up tanking mid way thru, the second fight was the same thing. 3rd fight he exclaimed "little ninja voke it!, voke it little nin!" but i didnt, then he got pissed took a raise then warped home, telling me i was a stupid war that didnt know how to do my job.

Yeah it works about 5% of the time, but your party has to be built for it, an you have to be in a mobs lvl range. otherwise it just wont work.

I wont argue, it has its situations.

                        That's what I wanted to know if still worked ; ; I don't want to go as NIN/RDM only to find I'm doing 0 DMG with my Ni elemental wheel and be wasting my party's time ; ;

                          Re: Nin & Cop

in the low 40s, a good NIN can hit upwards of 70-80 dmg/nuke. Meanwhile, my Greataxe would only break 100 with berserk on same mob -- and occasionally at that.

people do Under Observation with their back turned, nuking. I don't see why nin/rdm wouldn't work.
