i wonder what the significance of this is. Would the resistance-down stack with Ni? Sans don't seem to be incredibly damaging.

75 NIN in my LS last night merited two of them and said the damage was about 25% higher than the equivalent Ni spells at level 1.

Seems the San abilities there could be helpful for a Mage group fighting an NM. Since NMs will build resistance to that element as the fight goes on, the NIN can knock that resistance away.

There's two resistance stats at play now, though; elemental resistance (which is what ninjutsu and ancient magic affect), and this new Magic Resistance trait, which they do not (and in fact, Ninjutsu apparently increases this new resistance the same way elemental magic does).

From just quick views last night, it takes quite a lot of spamming to beef up that resistance. I got a fully Resisted Dia II on WHM (271 Enfeebling Magic) last night in Besieged towards the end of the battle, which suggests to me that Magic Resistance (the new stuff) is accumulated equally by all named types of magic damage, and applies to all of them equally (so spamming Burst II on an NM might make Bio II eventually get fully resisted). My BLM LS mate also mentioned in the same battle that she got a fully resisted Bio II for the first time in ages, probably for the same reason.

My question is, how do the elemental San look? I couldn't care less about damage. I want the shinies. Unfortunately, I still have 12 more levels to go on my nin before I can try them out myself.

Since this is the thread for the san ninjitsu, I will ask my question here.

I was wondering if anyone who has the san lvl spells can tell me if there was an upgrade to the amount of elemental resistance that a spell can lower compared to the equivalent Ni spell at lvl 1??

                Re: The New Ninjutsu

I have learned all the san spells. Unresisted with little to no INT gear they will do almost 200 dmg. With INT gear and a MB in tact these could be quite powerful. A nin/blm combo could be quite possible now. I personally dont have room for all the tools. Ninja has so many gear variations if I bring tools I will have no room for drops. About the resistance I cant really say, it dont seem too significant. I find the san spells useful on things like Faust and Ulli in sky, things you cant melee and with the san spells you have an infinite elemental wheel to spin. It consumes alot of tools to go nonstop. And of course there is no room to carry toolbags. For the question about the looks they look awesome. especially Raiton san , lightning bolts circle the mob then all zoom in and blow up. a couple of them them arent really to exciting but for the most part they look awesome. I wouldnt make it a priority to merit these but if you are running out of things to merit like me they are worth it. (probably more useful then sange and tool expertise unless you max it out)
