A place to farm Zinc ores

OK, the entire "Go to Giddeus" idea doesn't really appeal to me, because i'm 30WHM, and I don't really think I can solo anything there... So, I thought, why not go with the zinc ores? You only need 108 of them. I've been farming in South gusta (gotten about 12 so far, drops are not good) and have been wondering about a place where a 30WHM or 12NIN could solo and farm?

You should try Zeruhn Mines...Pick up a few stacks of Pickaxes and mine. I usually get quite a few Zinc Ore's there.

In Giddeus you'd be farming Yagudo for their necklaces, which should drop from a every Yag in the zone if I remember correctly.

You can try Zeruhn Mines in Bastok Mines as well as kill any and all worms you happen across, or you can try Palborough Mines but I think the mining points are kind of spread out there.

And I have no idea if I spelled Palborough correctly.

Zeruhn is ideal for it, really. You can even mine on a level 1 mule, so it's a good place to get your ore for fame (or gil).

I level in Zeruhn from 1-7 on each class I've taken up. I make Bronze and Iron Ingots, collect Soot for sale (I don't trade it in for fame), and collect zinc to either trade in for Tenshodo Fame or for making Brass. I used the money I got from soot and a choice piece of Darksteel Ore the last time I was in Zeruhn to purchase more zinc from the AH. I ended up buying most of the stuff since I can make much better money synthing--you have to weigh the costs of purchase versus the value of your time doing something else. If there's a more expensive product you can farm or synth, you should do that and use the money you make to buy zinc--you'll end up better off getting your best Cost/Benefit item on the market instead; if you like mining though, Zeruhn is great. Sometimes it's a bit heavily populated and if someone is always just ahead of you, you might not get many mining points. I would say try it and then decide. Yagudo necklaces are far faster farming than Zinc since what you'll get most of is Copper and Iron (at least I do).

In that case, I'll buy. On my current budget (140k) 108 ores for 1k is 108k, with 32k to buy extra stacks of shihei (I already have 5). EDIT: And since I bought tonko, thats another 100k for doing the quest.

You can also export some items from Norg since they tend to be in short supply on the mainland (even directly into Bastok AH, of course, since it's tied to Norg) to recover some of the price. I don't know about your server, but a stack of Toad Oil goes for 50-60k on Asura, and if you get lucky in Norg, you can get a stack for 30k if the price is down. Of course, scrolls, unusual weapons (check Jeuno for deficiencies and prices--esp. those used in crafting), Ninja Tools (priced right, that you aren't planning on using), and more.

Also Try outside of Bastok. Stone Worms drop them. ... i've gotten 4 so far tonight out of 10 fights.. btw what is the use of Zinc ore? someone said to me something about fame and he bought like 1 of them from me for 2,000gil... i sold 4 on AH for 1k each.. seems to be of some use just curiuos sorry for jumping a post.

I got them all. ^^ its fame for norg, to get Utsusemi and all the other ninja scrolls.

Should i save my Zinc's also since i'm low lvl right now and getting like 4 drops every 5 or 6 kills of Stone Worm? or should i just sell them for new gear to get on AH? also who do you hand in the ore for the fame?

At your point in the game it's probably wiser to use those Zine ore to make gil with. You can worry about your fame later on when you will likely have more ways of making a bit of money. Plus, the benefits of Norg Fame won't really be available to you until later on.^^

The quest in Bastok for Norg Fame that requres Zinc Ore is Beauty and the Galka. For the first quest, you only need one Ore. After that, the NPC will only accept them in groups of 4.

You can also trade Yagudo Bead Necklaces in Windurst for the Mihgo's Amigo quest.

just adding on to what murphie said, if you are specifically trying to get norg fame. the quest in windurst that involves yagudo necklaces takes twice as many times as the quest in bastok to reach the same amount of fame.
