To put it into perspective, a common joke amongst my friends is that rather then losing HP, every time a ninja gets hit it should just deduct gil.

Yeah, I was farming with /NIN until Grendal said I was spending money with my "gil-Shields".

THF would probably be a good job for all newbies to the game. With useful job abilities like Gilfinder and Treasure Hunter, early level farming isn't so hard.

I always thought MNK, THF and WAR were excellent jobs to start with. If you plan on going into the melee field.

BLM is good to start your mage career. WHM/BLM is even easier once you get subjob abilities.
