Re: A couple of ninja questions

Ok, weekends make a little more sense. I don't think even I could put consistently put up 10+ hours a day on ffxi. And all I have is a job (who needs a gf, I can spend my money perfectly fine by myself).
    I RNG 75 I WAR 37 I NIN 38 I SAM 50 I Woodworking 92+2

You could always get those HP drain Katana's when you get to that lvl ^^

If your under the mentality that gil is for spending then if you also want fast exp soloing then you might as well be using the lvl 40 ninjitsu.

It doesn't have to be fast exp. It jast has to be experience. It can be 15 per kill for all I care. I do it to relax. any experience I get is just more satisfaction.

I solo'd T-IT's in CN from 40-60 for kicks. /WAR the whole time and only med I brought was Antidotes for Poison Breath. Great exp but long fights. I enjoyed it though.

Well if that's what you want then why don't you consider using the NPC set to healer?

I do now. But I started solo'n in CN before I had spent the time to lvl my npc. It's a viable option even without the NPC backup either way because Crawlers and Beetles have what seems like the perfect delay after being Hojo'd to Ichi between swings. And the Mushussu's are easy to solo for some reason. One of my favorite mobs to kill by myself.

I swear ninja is the sister of redmage for solo ability and the ability to mix it up one of the things SE did right^^ when you have both rdm/nin you are awesome

i have a friend who solo'd to 20 in a few days. she didn't need help until level 19, and then the only help she wanted was because the going was soooo slow >.> but there is a big difference between the mobs at level 20 and 30, and the mobs at level 50 and above.

once i tried soloing for exp at level 30. i was in valkrum dunes waiting for red-type weather for my carbuncle ruby. while i was there, i tried to kill some easy prey mobs cuz i was bored, and to my surprise, the exp i got wasn't bad. i had an xp ring active (which helped a lot) and i had bloody bolts on me, so i had no downtime. i didn't die, either.
after about 20 minutes, i quit tho. red-type weather appeared, so i zoned to selbina to finish my summoner quest. i was a ranger/ninja fighting flies, which are weak to piercing. they died quick. i could almost oneshot one with barrage, and a good weaponskill would take almost half its hp from the sweetspot if i remember right. (it was a long time ago tho)

once when i was trying to xp my fellowship npc, i tried fighting some easy prey and died. actually, that has happened about six times or more in the couple dozen times i've summoned her. once or twice i was killed by mobs that actually checked too weak to be worthwhile.

i agree, the system s-e uses to determine the toughness of mobs at later levels is truly stupid. if it can give you ANY exp, it can kill you if you don't do everything perfect... and even then, it can still kill you. but at the lower levels (i.e, level 20,30, or even 40) it's not so big of a deal. you can still solo for fun, or to relax. later, however, soloing becomes so white-knuckled intensely terrifying, that it becomes anything but relaxing.

As of now i am a level 29 thf /war. I want to go ninja and realize the expense of the job already. [ saving up already , 800k so far ]. I don't want to be a psudo tank , i dont want to voke off the whm etc etc i just want to dd from lvl 1-75. i realize with war as sub i get voke and better survival ability. I have considered nin/blm but it seems thats not as accepted until higher levels. Nin/rdm seems more feesable with decent enfeebling and cure at lvl 6 with ninja . Pulling has never been a problem and i am most accustomed to it. Would thf/nin be more accepted or could i possibly go Ninja/BlackMage[Redmage]and still have 0 wait for pts? I just want to have fun , i dont want to have to sit in Kaz at lvl 25 and wait 128919324 more hours for a pt.

Re: A couple of ninja questions

                          1) waiting for pt's is something EVERYONE has to do, unless you take it upon yourself to start one.

                          2) if you are a nin, you will be expected to tank. period. there are not 2 ways around this. if you insist on not tanking dont expect people to invite you.

                          3) i understand the urge to have fun and not have any responsibilty and just whack things but you also have to understand the nature of the job. nin will 99% of the time be asked to tank. if you want to play a dd job like nin, i'd advise you to continue down the path you already started. playing a thf/nin you will be able to dd and not have to worry about provoking, etc. however, getting a pt as a thf/nin is just a waiting game as with other DD's. you have to compete with drg, drk, mnk, war, and sam for that DD spot.

                          4) this game isnt the pick up and go sort of game like other mmo's can be. it takes a lot of effort and time to get things done, if you do not want to put the effort into doing things, you shouldnt expect to get a lot back.

                          i hope this helps.

I soloed from 25-30 in qufim island cause I didn't feel like tanking mandies or being subpar DD vs. them. I did those 5 lvls with /WAR and the occasional med.

Now I solo /WAR exclusively including Limbus and EM-VT when I'm up for that. The extra damage from /WAR is far more important to me than the gimped healing power I would get from /WHM. If a mob would hurt me significantly or give me status effects I can't handle, I shouldn't be soloing it anyway.
