you can quest for most of the first tier of ninjutsu. it just takes time and a little gil. surely no where nearly as much gil as you would spend buying them all. however, second tier spells are probably easier to obtain from ah.

i bought mine but then again this was when everything was cheap not like now where utsusemi: ichi is around 800k. When i get back to playing again though i do plan to quest and sell for a good profit .

Quest them if you can otherwise bite the bullet and buy now and then quest later and sell for a profit. You might want to get another cheaper job to a high level first so you can farm gil to fund your ninja though. They're one of the most expensive jobs in the game to play and getting more so as gil prices drop on IGE and people's desire to have the best gear rises.

I've done the quests for nearly all of the ones that you can obtain that way. And some of them are a tad expensive. I checked the other day, Utsusemi: Ichi is 2mil. I'm about to do those quests on my mules to make some extra gil. The only one I need to do now is the Rusty Subligar quest. Need 9 more, and I can't seem to find them in stock. But since my NIN is only Lv.17, I'm O.K. for now.
