i went to life belt at 48, but i kept my survival belt till 72, even tho i never used it...i got it for like 20k a few months ago and i sold it for 170k >.>; i used it whenever i couldnt hit a mob with full acc gear, because people tend to make you tank mobs higher lvl than you, i.e dhalmals at 63 in bibiki bay, so i went to pure eva gear for that. but otherwise, if you can stick kuriyami, your probably safe

i wouldnt mind trying a scouters rope, but 4mil at the moment, and i like my warwolfs 5str and 3 enmity

i'd like a toradors cape too...i think thats what its called...9eva 1enmity or 3enmity or something...have a amemit+1 now

Actually you probably don't want the Toreador's Cape. Enmity+4 Evasion+9 or some such, but it has hidden effect: Enemy Critical Hit Rate+50%.

i dont want to offend you but if you dont owe a torredors cape then dont talk about the hidden effect.
i have one and i love it, i have -crit merrited and when i get hit its nowhere near to 50% crit
the cape is really nice when you know what you are doing you can also macro it out if get hit and fill in the bat cape or what ever you like to wear.

i tank everything like this all day.

EDIT:

atm it is the best cape you can wear in long time battles because +4 enmity saweeet so dont get the idea that the so being said 50% crit kill you.
just macro it in/out on the right time.

Rai, it's been tested and the cape is indeed +50% enemy crit rate w/o merits. I'm not sure how much merits remove from this. But, aren't you contradicting yourself when you say the +crit % rate isn't that high that you swap capes to avoid the mob critting you?

,i belive that the crit raises.

when i tank for example aura statues in exp pt the double atk most of the time, which would mean they do 1 normal and 1 crit all the time what is not true.

and the "it has been tested", common did you tested it ?
i never got any official statement about this cape and if have one go out and test it and you will see that the 50% are not true

again i have to say, this cape is pretty good. if you have the money and if you are smart enaugh to macro it in/out at the right time then this is your best choice.

Take a look at the Joyeuse. (Lvl 70 WAR/RDM/PLD/BRD/DRG Occaisonally Attacks Twice). It's been tested and parsed time and time again. The proc rate is ~50%. But anyone that has used it knows its not always single-double-single-double-single-double. You'll get a string of Single attacks, then a string of mostly double attacks. Over time, it procs to 50% single attack, 50% double attack.

I would assume the Torr. Cape is no different. Over time the crits parse out to 50%. But... since your Blinking most of those hits, you dont see whether they crit or not. (and yes, Utsu's blink is still a hit. its the last thing before taking damage. [i think its evade > parry > block > blink > dmg taken].

Since the critical hit rate varies depending on dex and agi values and the difference in level between you and the mob, I doubt the tor cape locks that value at a static 50%. Your milage will probably vary depending on what is hitting you and what other bonuses you have.

Since blocking reduces damage rather than avoiding it entirely, it doesn't make sense to have higher precedence than a dodging effect.
