So I was wondering how enimity equipment really works...i was under the impression that any +enimity gear just gives you more hate with everything you do. (Ninja tools, melee and evading...etc). But i been reading ppl just use enimity gear for voke only and switch out after voke. Anyone aware of what the real situation is?

Re: Enimity and Voke?
Unless you have really great timing skills, you won't be able to swap in Enmity+ gear whenever you swing your weapon, cast a spell, use an ability, then switch back to other gear such as EVA+ (assuming it's a NIN) whenever your enemy is about to attack you- it's too hard. I've only seen a handful of people that can keep this up, and it wears people's concentration off -fast-.
But like poster above said... JAs like Provoke give good hate spikes and Enmity+ would be more helpful in situations like that. You technicially could swap it in for spells (some do) and WS', but personally stat modifying equip would be more beneficial then Enmity+.Sony NW-E507 [wishlist]

Re: Enimity and Voke?
I didn't use any +enmity gear untill Arhats for Ninja. Even then, I only used the pants and boots. I never bothered to macro the other pieces into provoke, and never had a big problem keeping hate.Race : Mithra
Main Job : Thief / Ranger
Linkshell : Lunarians

Re: Enimity and Voke?
i never really bothered with macro switching. it was always one more thing id have to worry about. my aim was to maintain a nice balance between emintiy, eva, an acc. more eminity ment stronger vokes. more eva ment more hate on a dodge, an acc kept the damage constant. for me that set up seem to keep hate on me most times.

Re: Enimity and Voke?
yea, along the lines of what neighbortaru said, enmity effects everything -- at least that's the concensus. Here's a good example: if/when I decide to level pld, I could keep my new Dash Sash on the whole time for +2 enmity on every sword swing, spell cast, etc. Or I could just stick with awesome Warrior's Belt +1. Honestly, I prefer having the extra VIT from Warrior's Belt so I'll stick with that but Voke doesn't get anything from that belt. i.e. I could be doing better. So why the hell not put /equip waist "Dash Sash" in my voke macro? you can also have /wait 1 then /equip waist "Warrior's Belt +1" or "Survival Belt" or whatever you want the rest of the time. This is the same sort of dilemna of thieves with +Enmity. Sure, it's possible to put +enmity on a thf and thus TA puts more hate on tank, but more damage = more hate too so might as well stick with that, eh? For those people still using the /wait 15 /p Provoke in 15 seconds!!!!! I can see problems macroing in things... this is the main reason I hate these macros. Especially when you're assumed by your party to be voking every 30."And if he left off dreaming about you, where do you suppose you'd be?"
