/sigh 900k in Kujata, I think it sold for 1.2m at some point recently...I think im just gonna put my Beastmen seals to use. I am not paying 900k for NI, i'd rather stop lvling NIN, heh.

I ended up breaking down and buying it for 510k a couple weeks ago. I didnt think I would be doing any BCNM soon, so I got tired of waiting for it to drop.

It was worth it though. Since acquiring it, I have successfully soloed Ifrit, Titan, Garuda, and Leviathan prime avatars. What a kick ass spell, even though it only gives 3 shadows

Sadly (or fortunately) Utsesemi: Ni's price has gone down from 750k to under 600k within the past 3 weeks on Bismarck. My LS and I had a very successful run on the Mandy's BCNM, and when we listed ours they were the only ones for sale. Within 2 days though the available Utsesemi: Ni went from 2 to 12. Since then there are usu a dozen up for sale. Not sure if SE upped the drop rate on them or if there is just a huge group of people pushing BCNM 40s all of a sudden. Nice for Ninja's, bad for people trying to make money >.>

i dont know about any of you, but if i get a high end item like utsu: ni, erase, emp pin, leaping boots, i sell them for an inflated price...normally a couple 10thou more than its worth... (|I want to make money!|). people always mad at people overpricing, but if someone underprices, people still get mad.

as for prices, on seraph its 950k, i got it for 130k 2 days b4 the AH tax patch...it scyrocketed from there lol...*whew*

              Signs of ineffient market.

It's logical that if something doesn't sell and you eat the lost, you lower it. But in this case people just keep eating it and do a lottery like dance to hope it sells even higher to cover cost.

Eventually the market will right it self, but it's will be a painful transition. Someone is going to get left holding the bag (or in this case buying an over priced item)

You can build it but they may just not come because they don't know any better.

Many economist will say this is what a "bubble" economy is. And the bubble will burst somewhere.

But specifically Ni: with enm and all the other BCs, it's just people stop going to it till it raises so high, people take notice.

Very dangerous as price destablization= bad economy = painful self correction coming up. Theorically the market will always fix itself, it's how many people wil get hurt "fixing" that is an issue.

How about the folks that overpaid for virtually every item for the last 6+ months?

I generally try to get items when they are on a decline, even though I know full well they are still overpriced. An example would be the 2 sniper rings I recently purchased. I got them for 390k each. This is a crazy price for an item like that, but at the same time, there are folks who have paid almost twice that over the last 6 months or so.

However there are items that I lose on because I failed to predict the market trend on them, and end up paying an inflated price.

Examples would be my recently purchased Assault Earring, and Mermans Earring. I could have had an Assault earring 3 months ago for 180k, but I kept waiting for it to go down. Instead when I decide I really want it, its now up to 350k, and since I bought it, price has gone to 400k and rising. I paid 400k for mermans earring, and for a common HQ'ed crafted item, thats a bit high, but the demand must be there, since it has steadily risen.

Once the economy stabalizes, so many people will be left with overpriced items that will sell for fractions of what they used to, and will naturally feel cheated and ripped off.

I cant remember who, but someone said that right now, items have all the value, gil has very little value. People's argument is not to let gil sit in the bank, buy items with it that will only increase in value. If you need the gil back, sell the item.

However, it's like playing the stock market. Gil will gain value again very quickly once the economy finally turns. All the items will lose value and people will panic, and dump items on the AH in fear of taking huge losses (similar to the emp pin and snipers just before the patch that introduced ENM)

Personally, I dont really care. I'll just keep the items I want, and sell the ones I dont want, based on usefulness to me, not how much money i can make on them.

I doubt gil will ever regain value, at least on my server.

If you check the-website-that-may-not-be-spoken-of, you will see that Midgardsormr is practically always full of gilstock (i.e. they are not buying any more gil for that server). That doesn't bode well for any market correction.

Furthermore, the only time I can think of when people have dumped items at crazy prices is when the threat of a replacement item (or increased availability) is on the horizon. Scorpion Harnesses took a hit when the Operation Desert Swarm BCNM was released because of the fear of Venomous Claws flooding the market. Likewise, Snipers took a hit when Squenix announced that they would be offering alternative items to common gilseller targets (i.e. Archer's Rings). This isn't really a bubble bursting as much as it was trying to stay a step ahead of the replacement items.

LOL, regarding the "replacement" items... Snipers Ring = 390k or thereabouts. Woodmans Ring (replacement as far as I can tell) 900k-1 mil.. orz

The thing I was thinking may REALLY increase value of gil, Dan, is the discovery of desynthing 8 million gil items from the NPC in Tavanzia Stronghold. As more and more crafters buy these items to attempt desynth, that's 8 million a pop taken straight out of the economy with no new gil coming in. That is HUGE. Within a few months, you could be looking at billions of gil leaving the economy forever. If that doesnt increase the remaining gil, I dont know what will.

                    *keeps fingers crossed*

Woodsman/Venerer/Jaeger were all introduced in the same patch.

Keep in mind that we didn't know exactly what the replacements would be until they actually came out.

Yes no matter how intelligent one is, they can't predict it. It's risky holding gil as it as it is holding items.

This is S-E's(i.e government's) attempt to control the economy. Sometimes it's a good thing, some times it's a bad thing.

The governments controling the market to lessen the "hurting" of to smooth transition, but sometimes can make it 3x worse.

Right now I'm think it's S-E is unable to control it by rapidly introducing a lot of new things(ENM, BCs, Items) and just destablizing the market even more. BUT I degrest this can be short sighted of me, as it also has a chance of lots of mini bubbles bursting(wood more expensive then archer? 0.o), and go back to a rough stablization.

One would rather have a small bubble bursting then a gaigantic one.

Right now people are frantically finding the right way, jumping from one "gold rush" to another. I'll cross my fingers and be more relieved when I start seeing people farming again. That is one of the signs of stablity when basic needs(the things people use everything day) are competitive.

Final note: I have to becareful myself as using real world economics on a fictional world as ffxi, can uterally fail, as there are some very basic differences here

Royal Jellies - 3 man BCNM40 in Palborough. It's very easy, and I think there's a trick to getting good drops. If you take down all the jellies but the last one, and let it turn into a Queen jelly the drops will be better. I havn't exactly tested it past noticing drops have been better when the Queen formed which was 4 out of 9 times we did it.

Utsusemi: Ni in Kujata has now reached 1.2 mil. I'm happy I bought mine for free from a friend who was quitting. But, I had to buy Utsusemi: Ichi for 150K and then did the quest, only to sell it for 300K. I made 150K profit.

Back to the topic. I don't know why suddendly the prices have risen. Something must have happened like dropping the drop rate of that scroll by A LOT!

I think its because evreyone is leveling ranger and thats why the scroll has risen up in price.
