  • Ambidexterity

    Tried a search, tried asking lots of people but I never found anything or got exact answers, so I'll ask here. Does anyone know what Ambidexterity is? It's not a NIN-Job Trait, so... what is it -o-;

Being Ambidextrous means that you can do things equally with either hand. This would be like a switch hitter in baseball or a basketball player being able to dribble or shoot with both hands. I guess in the context of a Ninja, the Ninja is equally proficient using the katana in either hand.

Well as everyone here already said Ambidexterity basically is the same as Dual Wield in terms of what this game has. The thing that caught my attention though is that the original poster specifically stated that it is not a NIN trait, so I'm more curious to see were he got this information that lets him conclude definatly that what he's trying to find is not actually the NIN's trait "Dual Wield".

Yeah, translation aside the point is why did he specifically point out that it isn't a NIN trait. Apparently he saw something showing Ambidexterity as being unassociated with "Dual Wield" my curiosity is what he saw to get that idea.

I believe that the original poster must have looked at something that mentioned Ambidexterity, therefore he asked a question because if you look at the traits of NIN, then you will not see "Ambidexterity" you will see Dual Wield which would be similar but not the same.

I can hold two bats in my had, but that does not make me a switch hitter. I don't think that the poster had jumped to the translation of Dual Wield then to say that it was not a trait, but merely trying to make a connection.

Let's not take every opportunity to jump on a poster's head and dissect every word they say. Merely give them the information that they request.

                  Hmm...

A while back I happened to notice that while Duel Wielding, same weapon in both hands, the LEFT handed attack always seemed to do more damage than the RIGHT handed attack. And I'm not talking about 3-5dmg difference, the difference was in the range of 10-15dmg at least.

I pretty much came to take it that my Elvaan (at least) was left handed. He swung scythe from a left handed stance as well.

Could a trait like Ambidexterity be aimed at something like that? Now I've never seen a trait like that in game, or have any idea what this trait may actually be, but it made me remember that instance.

I wasn't trying to jump at anyone's head. It was basically just my own curiosity of the source that lead him to make that statement. I'm sorry if it sounded rude or anything. However, when you have to work with customers that do the most unbelievably dumbest things you could imagine you start to get use to questioning lots of things to get more clarity then what a surface appearance and an assumption will get you.

I was only curious on the source information that lead to this belief. I know some people can just be lacking in knowledge of English words and their definition, but there are times were people make to many assumptions and completly fail to answer someone's question sufficently. I believe more of that to be occuring then anything because it's more then rampant on these forums.

A person asks how RNG and sub SAM is and they start getting people telling them how main SAM is and completly ignored the fact the poster wanted info on it being used as a sub.

Now this is getting closer to what my questioning was trying to find out. Not exact still and I don't want to waste time defending a theory that people are just going to shoot down with assumption basses. That's why I'd rather know more about the source of this posters question so it can be more accurately answered (making no assumptions).

                    EDIT:

Just so you get an idea of what I've seen. You know how funny that pepsi/coke commercial was were you see that big guy dancing doing the twist, then they switch over to the cap saying "Twist to Open". As hilarious as that is I've had customers that have been as bad as that commercial.

The last one I had the guy was having trouble balancing the Ph in his pool. From the testing done I told him he had to add a bottle of acid (I think it was), he called me up saying he followed what we said and still nothing was happening.

So we had a one of service techs go out and examine it. Well the guy followed our instructions alright, he put the entire sealed bottle in the pool. Aparently I forgot to tell him he's suppose to empty the contence of the bottle into the pool, but you know I thought that was just plain commen sense boy did I make a bad assumption there -.-

Not to turn this into an annoying customer thread but....

Years ago my Mother had a support call where a woman at a newspaper in Florida called asked, "Where's the any key." My Mother didn't quite understand what was going on, and asked for an explaination of what the woman was experiencing. Lady said "A box popped up telling me to press any key." Dear ole Mom didn't think somebody was as dense to not understand what "any key" meant so she was confused at first.

I didn't believe her at first, thinking it was just one of those tech jokes. That was until she played me the recording of the call. She was training somebody at the time, so they actually have recorded proof of the call. I jokingly said, "You should use the tape to blackmail woman." Mom's response? "If the woman's so stupid she couldn't find the any key, she has nothing worth blackmailing for!"

                      Gotta love Moms!

Getting off topic, but that's like a "Simpson's Joke"...I use to have it as my email notification have Homer saying "To start press any key. Where's the any key?". As sad as it is though I've seen what looks to me like the dumbest thing ever you're actually amazed that the people dress themselves (Well starting to wonder about that after an episode of "Wife Swap" were the guy tried to get the new wife to dress him).

Anyway it's amazing the amount of questioning we are starting to have to do before we get anywere near servicing a person's pool. Especially since a "do it yourselfer" installed the plumbing for his pool, he did an old and dangerous trick to recycle his water. The pressure that was on a certain valve got so great it fired a piece at our tech, knocked him unconscious for about 3 hrs. he was hospitalized they said he was lucky if the pressure on his brain got any worse he'd of died.

When he got out of the hospital he still had a bruise on his head you'd swear someone took a tennisball and shoved it under the skin in his forehead.

Anyway back to topic, which is probably getting rediculously big for his simple question. Hopefully he gives more detail of were came to his conclusions to see if it is just trying to associate ambidexterous and dual wield or if it may actually be getting at something else he might of seen.

                          ?

I'm fairly certain he was asking this in regards to the nin AF 2 which has a effect that enhances "ambidextrous" or something to that effect.

I've noticed on mystery tour sometimes certain things(NIN AF Body i.e.) have the "enhances dual wield effect" incorrectly translated to "enhances ambidexterity effect." Maybe thats what the OP was referring to? EDIT: Didnt mean to rehash what other people have said, I just mainly wanted to say that mysterytour had some incorrect translations, and that might be where the OP got the idea.
