NM Hunting Partner RDM vs. BRD

I've teamed up with a friend of mine and we have future plans to Duo higher lvl NM's at this point though he's not sure if BRD or RDM would be better for his end of the team. SO just wanted to hear some options of ppl who do or have done this. We both play at peak JP hours and it's likely we'll never get into a HNM LS as we both play maybe 20 hours a week and don't speak Japanese. So we figured it would be fun to Team up once we've lvled and see what we can take down.

As solo, RDM is great... but if you're duoing NMs (or weaker HNMs), BRD would be better... espicially with something like a THF or NIN. BRDs are the *best* assist jobs in FFXI

This is not even a question to me, Bard all the way.

Elegy is much more significant than Haste could ever be and a Ninja can do the three debuffs they need to survive better than any Red Mage on most NM's. Add to that Mambo (to quote the Thief in my LS holding Charybdis till I got there last night, "Mambo must be Evade+70, I swear"), another song of your choosing and the fact that a Bard can give you Evade Skill+12, Parry Skill+5, Str+4 and Vit+4 without even trying too and it doesn't make it a hard choice at all.

speaking of duos... do you think a nin and rdm would be able to take down wyvrenpoacher?

i saw a 75sam and 75brd attempt this, the sam almost killed him but he had to use his 2 hour and about 6 weapon skills. im sure if he didnt have 2 hour, wyvrenpoacher would have slapped him around.

also, what about ungur? what would be the minimum to take him down? been mia lately and still at 71 but id like to get his boomerang soon if possible.

umm.. ungur i dont think so. aparently it takes a smart 7+ 75's for him. But ive only fought bune a couple times, and i heard he's harder. Still have to get my boomerang

Haven't faught Ungur since 72 but I'm pretty sure he can be killed by Nin, Brd, Rdm if all players know what they are doing and well equipped.

Bune is really easy, can probably be duo'd.

From what I understand, Ungur is practically the same as Bune except he has more HP. Then there's also the aggro mobs. I've done Bune with NIN, BRD, RDM..so I would imagine you can do the same with Ungur if you're careful about blood aggro.

Ungur is pretty easy, about the same difficulty as Bune.

doable with 3/4 75s in my experience, maybe its nice to have a full PT unless you like [excitement] ^^/

If they were level 75 then there is no word in the dictionary to show how truely pathetic they are.

We tried Ungur with 3. took him down to 25%HP. 75Nin 74Brd 60Rdm(me.) My job is only hasting and cure paralyze. It went well untill my sneak wears off, I *had* to go near the NM to renew sneak and got dispel-wind + paralyze.... Neither me or the BRD could get our paralyna out and we ended up all dead.

the ninja was 71/35, an the brd was 72/36. what happened was the king got po'ed. did a bunch of wateraga III followed by numerous scissor atks. not to mention his normal atks. an its insane health. the brd couldnt keep the ninja healed, an his mp high enough. the brd eventually ran out of mp, an the ninja resorted to using high potions. but in the end they fell. then a couple onlookers took him with 3/4 its health gone.

i dont know, i think with rdm spells, they can surely take a few minutes of a beating while the ninja recast there shadows, or downs a few potions. not only that but with there large resort of mana, the fact they can convert to refresh mana, also gives them a slight edge. or if poop hits the fan, chain spell.

for casters NM I can see the need of silence. Which in that case RDM WHM BLM can all do the job (altho RDM would be more reliable.) Or easier still, just stun them when they cast GA.
