renkei participation

i know once level 3 renkei come into play, nin can start some if you dont have 2 melee that can directly do light/darkness together. ie: rlb > howling fist > spin slash

i just find that nin ws can vary by so much and even on the high end, dmg so far doesnt seem that great. my highest dmg w/ blade: jin has been 390 on a IT mob but, it has ranged anywhere from 20-300 with a mean of about 120~. possibly b/c im a taru ninja, but i just wanted some feed back on this.

do any of you participate in the main dmg renkei during xp pts?

do you solo your ws, or do a 2nd renkei with another melee?

spirits whore/flat blade whore?

for myself, i usually solo my ws right before i provoke the mob again, just for added hate. sometimes, if theres a real angsty rng or sam, ill renkei with them since they gain tp quickly. but this usually causes problems since their ws out dmg mine and hate is transfered to them, then i have to work the hate back.

im about to learn blade: ten, and this can start darkness as well as create darkness from a distortion. how is the dmg on the ws and the following darkness dmg? or is blade: jin pretty much the best we have till our last days?

only time i participate is if we have a samurai, otherwise i leave the skillchain to the other two melees in my party, i save tp and solo my ws at the start of the fight for that extra hate

only level 26, but i have been in every Sc in every party so far, i dunno why, i'd rather be free to keep hate the best i can w/o worring about Scing, and it makes it easier on me if i can just MB with nin magic w/o having to worry about my shadows being down while im doing the Sc and casting nin magic.


but as my rng and as my blm nins seem to always wanna be apart of the SC, so i dunno.

I usually skillchain with samurai, or just bank the tp for a blade:jin. Most ive done with blade:jin on an IT xp monster was 400 on a steelshell while berserked, which isnt that bad considering its a crab (i thought i was done killing crabs for xp -_- )
silliest skillchain i ever participated in has to be blade:teki(lol) > Guillotine to make induration

The only time I'd ever Renkie in a battle is if we have a samurai or a souped up Ranger. I mainly use my WSs to hold hate, but any good/rich Ninja knows the key way *the best way* to holding hate is by using different elemental Jutsu. It wont do much Damage but it will lend u the hate you need and make the mob vanerable to different element WSs.

Haste boots are always good, haste rings, or Haste itself, because when your up against double attack mobs you may find yourself taking quit a bit of damage from not being able to cast Jutsu. :sweat:

Blade: Jin is our best damage weapon skill even after you get Ku. If you have a bard in party you can start doing Blade: Jins for about 600~800 damage on Decorative Weapons in the Shrine of Ru'Avitau. On Aura States you'll do about 200~600 damage with Blade: Jin and even less with Ten and Ku. In higher end experience point parties on Aura Statues with RNGs, it is probably best to do Blade: To > Slug / Sidewinder for Fragmentation. On Decorative Weapons Blade: Jin > Slug / Sidewinder will make Detonation which will ocassionally result in half damage Detonation for the RNG(ie: Sidewinder for 1900, may do a Detonation for 800.)

IMO, the best way to hold hate is by doing the most melee damage possible, while provoking every 30 seconds and keeping your Utsusemi up. All our elemental Ninjitsus get resisted to hell on Aura Statues, and Decorative Weapons last for such a little amount of time it isn't even worth the gil to start spamming elementals; moreover, casting elementals interrupts your ability to melee well. With a bard you will do damage that is comperable to a DRK, and perhaps 30~40% less than the damage output a decked RNG can do.

I had a crazy xp session last night and got a whole level so I can do Blade:Ten now (jump and twirl weaponskill lol) :sweat:
It was doing the same damage as blade:jin soloing but I tacked it on the end of Howling Fist > Dancing Edge to Make my 1st Darkness Chain ^^ oooh prettty colors....I want to make dark chain all the time now lol

The Mithra Blade:Ten pose is really beautiful and sleek.

Mithra and Tarutaru have the best version of this WS by far imo. Elvaan male's pretty cool too though, unusual.

Some of the Ninja's on my server who are 70+ and have Blade Ku love to use it when they solo WS during exp parties, but they either have a very fair amount of accuracy, or they macro a lot of accuracy equipment before they do the WS then switch back to evade or whatever it is they used, to help have as many of the 5 hits as possible actually hit, they say the Damage from an accurate Blade: Ku is reasonable, (for Katana WS's anyways.)Although they never not have Blade: Jin macroed because of its alright damage and paralysis effect. Since Ninja's hit so much they usually get a fair amount of tp to use Jin for effect, or Ku for damage for hate keeping.

Ku usually isn't good though they say if you don't have some acc
+ equipment handy, because unlike Jin which has 3 hits, you have a higher chance of not getting all those hits to hit, which is what acumulates the damage. I wish I could judge for myself, as maybe they just prefer the way it looks. Although it does seem possible that maybe ninja's in general don't carry more acc+ gear, and have a few in favor of Evasion gear. These guy's are macro switch kind of guys though so maybe the Acc really does help Ku do more damage.

Although if you have to be in a WS, its almost always Jin cause of light. Is Darkness really used that little?

Anyways, I just want these WS's in general, lol, still have to get them..but gotta take a step at a time.

Unfortunatly for Exp pt's it comes a bit too late, unless the cap is increased, but has anyone here attained Blade: Metsu? I know Mitsu was going to try to get it soon..

Aparently its the most damage potentially powerful of the Katana WS, but weither that means it actually does huge damage, or is just good in comparison to the rest of the Katana ws's I've never been able to find out.

The thing is ppl use light because: a) suposedly it gets less resisted than darkness and b) mainly cuase DRK and THF can close this for huge dmg since lvl 66. Now from personal expirience i cannot tell you which one is better. What i do know (and from a 71 BRD in my LS) is that xping later on is just like xping around all the lvls. It depends on your party what you do. Last party she had the NIN ended the SC with Ku for darkness...and they had a THF, not sure why they did that didn't really ask (they could have done jin>sharkbite...).

Ppl tend to go with what ppl usually do and rarely experiment to see what else fits. I myself do unregular stuff on parties (not always but i like to do parties where the mob dies so fast there is no point in having tank...like melee,BLM,BLM,BLM,BLM,BLM....initial melee just to pull. Or the always fun BRD puller and other stuff) but SC is one of those things i don't experiment.

The other night i was lvling up WHM in yhoator and due to scarce ppl LFG the party ended up being WAR,BLM,BLM,BLM,SMN,WHM... SMN was puller. SC was smash axe> seraph strike with 3 thunder MB and a thunder II MB from ramuh that SC was making gobs drop fast. Smash Axe was doing 30 dmg (not that we xpected anything from it) and seraph strike around 80-115 Dmg. Now for a WS that comes from a spoon that dmg was amazing. Ive lvld 5 jobs past those jungles and have 3 more at yhoator. And from personal xpirience i can say that normal ws don't go a lot higher than 150 dmg at that lvl regularly (with a BRD in party most ive seen is 270 dmg from a double trust DRG and my personal 235 from combo with MNK...not counting of course SATA from a THF since that is not normal WS dmg and I mean constant not just a once in a time 2 crit WS). Pretty good from an odd party setup. Another thing i remember is me doing Banish II MB at altep on beetles (SC was fusion). BLM could not use firaga so he had to use fire I. His MB... 115 DMg... my MB 160 Dmg. Funny thing is he's main is WHM 72 and he never bought banish II cause he claimed it was useless. Now i'm not saying this things apply to all lvls. But the more i lvl up the more i see how the game CAN be flexible...it's just that ppl don't bother with it. Don't get me wrong i'm not the guy that goes with the "Be original! do whatever is fun to you!" mentalaty. I don't invite stupid job combos like SMN/DRG. I just think ppl should not be afraid of dieing when trying new things out lol.

hehe, im about 14k till 66 and im starting to get angsty-pantsy about it. i wanna make pretty colors too! T.T

i think taru does a backflip at the top of blade:ten...? not sure but i guess ill find out soon enough. :spin:

I've noticed that Blade: Jin can do potentially more damage then Blade: Ten. Where as Ten is much more consistant damage wise.

Basicly if accuracy might be an issue then stick with Blade: Ten, but if your not having trouble hitting the mob or are feeling lucky and want to try for a possibly bigger number then use Jin.

As far as renkei's go I prefer to participate whenever it's viable.

Sorry to get a bit off topic here, but yer damn right this game is more flexible than a lot of people give credit for. Any of you guys ever duo'd in Yhoator with say RNG and/or THF(doesn't really matter the classes, as long as you can use bloody bolts). It is possible to get Chain 3,4 etc on mandy's there at around lower lv30s. Me and a friend decided to try this, we actually got lucky on a Chain 5 when a gob dropped a bomb, and got Chain#5 300xp. Anybody that says this game isn't flexible hasn't put the money into gear or thought enough about the game to take advantage.

Back on topic I'm a LOT lower level than what you guys are talking about, but I would probably experiment with the acc+ gear(if you can afford it) and try the multi-hit WS's. There's a reason people use those, and if you put the gil into your equips there's a lot more that can open up in this game than you'd realize. Hell, SE originally put Ninja's in this game as a DD, remember that altho you are a tank, there's still that aspect to it that can be utilized if thought out properly. Carry on guys, not sure how mcuh a low level ninja like myself can add to the conversation, but I like reading up on what you higher levels have to say.

I usually solo my WS, using Blade: Ten on higher IT mobs and Jin on lower level mobs and VT. But I recently had a PT where WAR and THF would do Mistral Axe - Shark Bite, while i did Blade: Ten - Cross Reaper with the DRK to make both Light and Darkness.

I see people keep saying Decorative Weapons in Shrine of Ru'Avitu are soo easy yet every invite I get always wants to go to some place like Kuftal Tunnel or Bibiki Bay; or in rare cases, Ro Maeve ; ;
