NIN Advice Please

About the CN comment. That doesn't work. Exp doesn't work when there are 3 PTs there hunting the beetles. You see....on my server Gargilage Citadel and Crawler's Nest are so god damn packed that they aren't good exp anymore because the avliablity of mobs are so low that we can barely ever get a exp chain #2 or #3. That's why I am avoiding those 2 places and looking for alternatives, it is the same reason why I goto Korrolock Tunnel now instead of Valkume Dunes. I mean a year ago........these places rocked.....now.......it rocks....but very rarely ; ;

Well I can't kick the PT members out. I mean we're family so.........I have to stick it out with NIN, NIN, WHM, RDM, and 2 slots that are filled with whoever is on and wants to come in the LS, usually it is the THFs. I just wanted to know how to maximize the potential of the PT to it's fullest is all.

BTW, I was reading over some more NIN threads and I was wondering how would you rate Sniper Rings, Scorpion Harness, Fuma, Speed Belt in importance.

if you take that pt setup all the way, i suggest one of the ninjas try stacking everything atk/str and acc/dex. 4 melee and 2 mages work fine if you know what you are doing. i had set with whm, rdm, rng, war, thf and myself, from 33-60.

if you had all those items and gil wasnt a factor: i would pick speed belt, fuma, scorpion, sniper rings.

When you say build up attack gear, I had this thought in my head. There is that item that gives you like +20 to attack but -10 to evasion or something like that.I think it's called Ochuito Kodo, or something like that. I'm sorry I don't know it right off the bad. Anyways, once I get to 37 and have Utsusemi: Ni, can I sacrifce the -10 to evasion? Or can I just eat a Jack-O-Lantern to cancel the out the evasion stuff? Basically what I'm saying is if I had the item equiped, could I still tank without getting touched.

yea, i watched this atk ninja that was in a pt with a pld. he basically had sniper rings, byrnie, ouchidos kote, amemit mantle, and other offensive items. u can still tank but, full time tanking... i think i would let that be up to the other ninja you have in your pt that would be better equipped for it (evasion gears build). of course you have 11 shadows if not more if the mob is debuffed, at your disposal.

if you were to become offensive, youd probably want to eat mithkabobs or something that boosts str/atk. you wont really want to eat jack 0 lanterns since evasion isnt your main focus.

again, there are better jobs that can fit into that slot in ur pt, but since u said u have a set pt and you wont be kicking out any of your members, imo this will make the most out of this party slot.

Hm.....now another thought came to my head.

If I had both me and the other NIN gear up in an offensive manner and just tanked just like we have been pre 37, wouldn't that make the best of both worlds? I mean we both have 11 shadows and we would both be dealing decent damage, it's just that we are able to single tank full time, so we could possibly play just like pre 37 where we would swap out tanking in and out, right?

theres a new kote that gives +15 attack, and no negatives, im pretty sure they made that for nins, but if one nin is gonna be a DD, then yeah the och. kote is definate a good buy, and i'd concider a swordbelt+1 and using sushi for accuracy (sole or squid sushi more specifically)

^^ maybe if your too poor to gear the combo correctly but i outdamaged two rngs and a blm so its by no means gimp, but by no means the best way to level ninja, its just a fun alternative through the early levels.

Well, finally hit 37 last night and went on and got 39 as well..........

I just realized how tricky playing NIN as a full tank is and I think I've finally gotten the timing on how to recast my Utsusemi:Ichi and Ni so I don't get hit, but I have a question about...well efficiency. Basically what I did was the following...

#1) Cast Utsusemi: Ichi and the end of every fight
#2) By the time the mob is pulled or my 3 shadows are up, Ususemi: Ichi is up again
#3) I then recast Utsusemi: Ichi again for another 3 shadows
#4) I wait for the 3 shadows to be gone and then recast Utsusemi: Ni for 4 more shadows
#5) From then on I just alternate between Utsusemi: Ichi and Ni

The problem that I'm encountering is sometimes there is still a few seconds needed to cast Utsusemi: Ichi or Ni, so I suppose this is where the Fuma's +3% haste comes in, right? But another thing I'm wondering is, does this Utsusemi casting order drain more Shihei then some other order? How do most of you cast your Utsusemi? Please enlighten me.

Note #1: I know I have another NIN in my PT, but I'm still trying to get these casting order correct for when I want to solo something like Serkest or the Avatars or stuff like that ^^

Another thing I'm wondering is, how do you feel about the replacement of Sniper Rings over my AGI+ Rings? Also does crafting the Sniper Rings from the Archer's Ring from the NM in Ordel's Cavern require 90+ Leathercraft? or does just 90 give a pretty good success rate?

Thegod, Yes, I've seen that kote and I was thinking about having myself use Horomusha Kote while having the other NIN use the Och. Kote. The sad thing is I'm having second thoughs now ; ;

See, I use a Federation Tekko ( Accuracy +3, Ranged Accuracy +3) and I've been hitting for a fairly nice rate, despite my Elvaan origins. The thing I'm worried about is not being able to hit the mob much for some hate keeping if I switch to the Horomusha Kote. Then there is this part of me that screams at me that I will do fine as long as I get 2 Sniper Rings, but then the other half of me screams that I'm losing 4 AGI which will make keeping shadows harder to keep...........so yes any freedom from this enternal chaos thru advice is very very very much welcomed.

this is what i usually do.
before fight have Ni up.
cast Ni again once gone
cast Ichi
then alternate unless your evasion/buffs allows you to evade enough to allow your timer to reset itself. if so, ill always cast Ni again.

once u get to 40, whm (48 for rdm) will be able to cast haste on you. youre Ni timer will go from 45s to 36s iirc. this is a nice help even nicer if you have fuma+speedbelt but not necessary.

about the overwriting thing, it means that you can overwrite the utsusemi u have currently w/o having to cancel it. this works for all cases unless you are casting ichi over ni. which in that case, u need to cancel your ni set of shadows by approx. 50% cast time to allow the new ichi set to take effect. if u dont, u will get a No effect and you would have blown your ichi timer -and- have not renewed your shadows.

id wear snipers over agi any day. personally, i never wore any +agi rings. ive only worn str or dex/acc rings. i would say u wear acc items. your evasion can be boosted pretty nicely now. 2x dodge earrings (lv 29), nomads mantle (lv 24), emp. hairpin (lv 24), surival belt (lv 38) and any body armor that gives +eva.

your now higher then my nin so i couldnt give you advice on utsusemi recasting..

as far as the kote is concerned, dont worry about it, you will be able to hit just fine as long as your using the correct food.

I.e. sole or squid sushi (+14 accuracy and some boost to attack, one gives 2 dex, the other gives 4 agi, i forget witch is witch been leveling ranger alot again)

personally if i was level 39 i'd keep my winged boots, untill more haste items became available (ones i could never afford *cough*speed belt) i'd wear the hom. kote for 15 attack, i'd wear hairpin, and i'd have dual snippers, and a swordbelt+1 at level 43, i'd eat bison steak, and see how well i kept hate with attack power and the wheel..

if my attacks were still too weak, i'd dump the sword belt, get the survival belt, dump one snippers get a +3 agi+1 ring, and call it a day.

oh and if you guys can afford it, then yeah by all means let the attacking nin use the och kote.

Thegod, we'll I lead a really close LS so I'm sure I can convince this static to head with us to Castle Oztroj and Ordel Caverns to help camp out some of these NMs, after all helping LS mates only serves to help yourself in the long run. So getting the Och. Kote shouldn't be a problem ( Especially since we have a 64 THF in the LS who is the other NIN hehe and I have a NIN sub as well for that matter, but I still know the drop rate is close to crap so......it'll take some time ROFL ).

Anyways, I'm interested in that food you were talking about ^^. The +14 Accuracy would help make up the lose of the Federation Teko ^^ I will look into that as well and OMG I can't beleive I forgot about the survival belt lol. Oh well, it's a cheap item and their are plenty in stock in the AH for 9k ^^

Man, guys I'm so grateful for the help ^^ It's cleared alot that's been going in my mind. All that chaos is gone and it's look good.........well except for my wallet ROFL, gosh 400k for the Fuma is going to set me back a bit....hopefully I'll recover soon enough to buy the Scorpion Harness by then ^^

yeah both sole and squid give +14 to melee accuracy, i heard a rumor they added +30 ranged accuracy (theres even a guide on it i'll post the link so you dont think im crazy for thinking that was possible....


...i used them when i toyed around with nin/rng to see if maybe the (fake) +30 ranged accuracy would help me hit better then a ranger.

I know when it says ranged accuracy??? that the item has be proven to affect ranged accuracy in some way shape or form.

the +14 accuracy is definately definately noticable, as you well know at level 27 nins have trouble hitting anything. (and ima mithra for crying out loud...lol)

fumas great if you can count of whm or rdm to cast haste on you all the time. those numbers omni gave are decieving (true numbers) but it seems like your recast has been cut in half not just 1/4 taken off.

Nice food ^^ But..... Jack-O-Lanterns and Sole Sushi is something I'm weighting out again. I mean Jack-O-Lanterns are +10 to Accuracy and Evasion, where as Sole Sushi seems more for full meeleing wit the +14 to Accuracy and to stats. Maybe I should eat the Jack-O-Lanterns or Narvian and the other NIN can eat the Sole Sushi?

Oh and another thing I want to clear up. What exactly do you guys filter out using the chat filter? I filter out everything except my damage, my misses, my speical attacks, speical actions on myself, and all the other chatting stuff. How about you guys?

jack o lanterns are nice you only need 39 cooking to make them. and i happen to be cooking 39 ;p i happen to catch the flower girl in rulude selling ogre pumpkins (she only sells them once in a while) so i stocked up on them.

for some reason, my chat filters are broken... i have others dmg, others atk, etc set as ON... but i still see them...dont know what the deal is.

what i found out to help me when trying to keep track of my shadows is that i have the chat color for the attacks you evade set to something that stands out. my regular atks are set to white and my evaded/utsu absorbed are set to a bright orange. it stands out alot easier when you have a event log scrolling by non-stop during battle.
