  • Leveling spots 63+

I've done some searching around for good ninja spots to level after toramas (onzozo). Highlevel cockatrice were a huge pain in the butt to blink tank like couerls because your mage has to be on top of things casting stona/silena.

Processionaires in boyhada are going really well with nin, rng, rng, rdm, rdm, blm or swapping one of the rdm for a whm.
Skimmers are even more appealing but there seems to be no good spot to fight them at and i'm told they link easily.

Sticking with processionaires look good until 65 at least, the utsusemi ignoring poison spray for up to 300 damage hurts but they are easier than cockatrice/coeurl types by far. So whats good to hunt after these?

Birds in sky are awesome EXP until ~67. Camp right at the escape point. Flies in Boyahada are good until 68/69. Then you can move to Manticores in Terrigan. Manticores are sooooo easy to tank (about a 9 second attack delay with elegy, no joke). These are good up until 72/73. Frostmane is also a popped NM there, so you can make good money while EXPing (Great Sword goes for about 600k on Pandemonium). Then weapons in Moon or Sky until 73/74 (hard to tank, atleast as WAR. Had to dual tank these with another WAR/NIN). Then Golem in sky (a lot like manticores, very easy to tank, huge attack delay).

Hmm I guess I better get sky access soon then, playing late at night makes getting zilart missions completed difficult
So level 69+ for manticores in terrigan? I love farming the weaker ones in altepa because they attack so slow and can't land attacks worth a damn :spin: ( lol @ their max mp down special, sorry I don't need a mana pool to kick your ass XD )

I'm guessing ninja never tank in ranperres tomb anymore because undead ae's strip all shadows now?

It's possible; my NIN friend tanked the gustav ones at 68 a couple days ago in a 2 MNK PT. No deaths (except when they decided to fight NM :p). He said it wasn't too hard, just more difficult then other monsters.

I was tanking skeletons in gustav yesterday and I was having a really hard time during some fights. They have two area special that wipes out utsusemi. They are nearly impossible to blind to. I would avoid them if possible, go for other stuff.

Processionaire in Boyahda are really good until level 68. Those things have crap for defense. They have no physical special so the only thing you have to watch out is double attack. They die quick and really easy to chain.

Steelshell on the pond in Boyahda on the second floor are really good too. Good from 64 to 67. Theres plently of them and they are really easy to kill. Very easy to tank also. I suggest killing those if you dont have RNG in your PT. With a good Distortion renkei, you will kill them nicely.

From 66 to 69 you can fight Tormentor in Den of Rancor. Those are nice for exp. A little harder to tank than the processionaire because they have physical specials and petrify but otherwise its okay. They also have a special that can silence you but it can be blocked by blink.

Onzozo from 62 to 64 is nice but if theres more than 2 PT, forget it, you wont break the 3k/h cause theres just not enough monsters. Torama are easy to tank but you need a good WHM who can cast Silena and Paralyna on you without having to request it too.

66 at Rancor Den is really hard without bard and white mage. Should come back at around 68.

Processionaire is good untril 67-68 tops, from there you can do hobgoblins, dhalmel, and rarab at Bibiki Bay until 70? not sure on that.

Personally I found camping on the broken bridge G-5/H-5 was best (I think it's Dark Elemental island).

Cant really add more suggestions that what has already been said, but just a tip. If you do Tormentors at Den of Rancor make sure your WHM or person with /WHM sub has Erase. The lizards do a non dmg special that lowers your evasion.

Yeah toramas are nice xp, and I agree it turns into a crap spot if more than 2 parties are there. I was lucky and had a mage that was on the ball curing silence/petrify which made xp'ing there enjoyable with no close calls. Even getting the place to ourselves we had to pause after chain5 to let the respawn catch up or the thf had to go /flee pull some much farther away.

I've heard someone mention the 'bloodball room' in boyhada, i'm guessing its deeper in past the processionaire tunnel ive been fighting in. Are the leeches worth xping on at any point?

Just a room with few more processionaire. Hit a bloodball and you prolly link 4-5 more so wont advise trying that

at 71, we went to ro'meave and tried weapons. bad idea from the start, but i was willing to give it a shot. first our rdm dies cuz she casted too close to the wall and agrro'd a bunch of weapons thru the wall. we couldn't do anything so we just watched her get raped by like 3 weapons. then i was told that if i run away, weapons would lose tp and won't do their aoe..../laugh (maybe i just wasn't fast enough?) but yea, i felt really stupid running around the little room in circles everytime it readied it's aoe, just to have it hit and strip all my shadows anyways.

stick to babiki bay > 72^^

when u ding 72, go check out ladons in kuftal.....

That only works with Smite of Rage not Whirl of Rage.

Another thing related to 63+ leveling is armor.

Has anyone been happy using any of the arhats armor?
The def on non hq parts(hq pieces are never in stock and 400-600k a piece in based on sale history) is lower than what im currently wearing in most slots.
I feel like i'm at the point of diminishing returns getting more evasion from arhat's armor, so i'd *maybe* get legs or gloves for some +enmity I don't know.
Arhat gi+1 looks nice but that would only be worn if I got caught with shadows down while activating defender, or swapped in as part of a provoke macro or something - maybe thats getting a bit carried away when you already have a scorp harness

Inventory space for more swappable gear is almost nonexistent at this point when I go xp because i'm one of those elemental ninjitsu spammers along with some swappable ring/neck/back items being carried around ;x
I feel like such a packrat.

arhats body+1 and jinpachi+1 are kind of pointless, they are specifically ONLY good for kiting some NM, or static tanking if you know your going to take big hits and your damage output is worthless, body, jinpachi, earth staff, jelly ring, -40% physical, which is pretty nice.

Or your a really really bad ninja.....I can name two people on my server who need them! :-]

I wear the HQ versions of arhat's feet/armor/hands, and they're very good. Some people like switching legs for AF at night, but I prefer the enmity+, and I'm too lazy really.

While just +1 more evasion on each piece isn't all that great, +1 enmity from each piece is a big deal. If you can grab all 3 of those and wear them full time, they will make your life easier for sure. Very nice equipment if you can afford them.
