Plus lets not forget that SE also said that being much higher in level than the mob your attacking does not affect the drop rate of items the mob drops..

Enmity+ adds more "hate" generation to any action you do. It is "instant" if you want to call it that, but over time it is a cumulative effect as well. Basically anything one does that produces any enmity at all is enhanced with enmity+ gear. Your provokes will be stronger, your regular melee attacks will give you more hate, your other job abilities and spells will get you more hate, etc. It is not extremely drastic, but it does definitely make a noticable difference. I've found that it's definitely easier to pull hate from a tank after I got my AF piece with Enmity+5 than it was before it.
