  • Blade:Ten = Blade: Heaven?

Reading a copy of Naruto they had Ten translated as Heaven and Chi translated as Earth, I knew these names meant something but now I'm curious does anyone have the rest translated by chance or a site that has them? Can't wait till I learn Blade: Heaven^^

Doing Blade Ten you jump in the air and raise your blade in the direction of the sky, so that makes a lot of sense (Especially for Taru's doing it. Wheee)

Blade:Chi's self explanatory, Chi can also mean your soul energy. Its often thought to be interconnected with the Earth so maybe thats why they share the name sound.

My Japanese is ultra rusty and still needs practice. I can try by memory though.. If anyone here knows better please post.

BTW, all the Ninjutsu was translated in an earlier thread if your curious about that. You can search for it.

Blade: Rin: "Critical", as in some kind of dramatic event. Rin usually means a bell, or a doorbell.

Blade: Retsu: Retsu usually means....a line, or a row. Once again it doesn't make too much sense. Although you could think in terms of being one after another. It can also be used to mean Queue, or stall/delay (Like in a line) So that makes a lot more sense.
Edit: Oh oh, it can mean some kind of long lasting injury like a burn too.

Blade: Teki: It usually means "Rival", or "Enemy". I have heard someone say though that it can also refer to dripping water. But I don't know that one for certain.

Blade: To: Has quite a few uses. Its most used meaning is "Door"., which it has a Kanji for. The rest of the meanings are along the lines of an verb like "and" as in and with.

Blade: Chi: You know this already..

Blade: Jin: Jin can mean either a Person, or being rapid.

Blade: Ei: I'm afraid I don't know for certain. It could be another meaning for Shadow, even though Kage is usually that.

Blade: Ten: You know this too..

Blade: Ku Its very difficult. Ku can mean a variety of things, most of which is the number 9, to Phrase, or when used as an advective, it can mean "Being." This is often used at the end of prefictures within a city as well, like Shinjuku-ku, Shibuya-ku etc. If it has another meaning I'd be very interested in hearing it.

Blade: Metsu: The one gotten from Kikoku, the weapon everyone wants..
Metsu litereally means "To return to one's place of origin". This weapon skill has been discussed before, some say it could even refer to the saying "All things that live must eventually die", since in many Shinto belief's, we all come from a certain somewhere, and return there when we die.
        Now that sounds cool.

Great! I was accurate with most of it! My Japanese needs to be cleaned up a bit, I have a lot of brushing and up practicing to do.

I've never heard To used as the word for Freeze before..

But I bet it is what it means, as all of these are desinged to sound like Kill maneuver's

              Critical Strike
              Burn=Injuring Strike
              Water infused strike
              Ice infused strike
              Earth infused strike
              Rapid strike
              Sky bound strike
Metsu=Kill maneuver (I hear its quite powerful for a Katana WS, but the name's just plain awsome.)

All of these names arn't the commonly used term for whatever
they refer to, they all seem like very, very old Kanji. I guess it goes with the motif of Ninjutsu and Taijutsu being ancient and mysterious.

I really wish I knew what Ku could be. The only time's I've seen it used is as the number 9, and as a province title.
I can't think of any "kill move" esque name that it could refer to. I've looked on the internet and in my Japanese to english dictionary too, and even asked an exchange student friend of mine and all she knows is Province and the Number. It must be some really old, seldom used meaning..

I allways figured that they just got lazy and named the 9th WS for the Katana Blade: Ku for Blade: 9, or is there some other reason for the name?

                    ...Whoa...I can't believe I didn't notice that.

Maybe thats what it literally means. Maneuver Number 9.

So I guess it could literally be..

Blade: Rin = Blade Maneuver: Critical Strike
Blade: Retsu = Blade Maneuver: Crippling Strike
Blade: Teki = Blade Maneuver: Water Strike
Blade: To = Blade Maneuver: Ice Strike
Blade Chi = Blade Maneuver: Earth Strike
Blade: Jin = Blade Maneuver: Rapid Strike
Blade: Ei = Blade Maneuver: Shadow Strike

Blade Ten = Blade Maneuver: Aerial Strike
Blade: Ku = Blade Maneuver: The 9th Strike
Blade: Metsu = Blade Maneuver: Return to Oblivion

I like the touch that the Japanese Weapon Skills are all very catagorized compared to the other WS's, thats very accurate.

Tachi=Technique. So all the Samurai techs are the same way.

Taru's doing Blade: Ten is the best. Don't see those fancy Hume and Mithra going true Ninja style and doing a flip do you? XD (As unbelievably cool as it would look to see a Hume or Mithra do a full blown sumbersault. But Taru's would still be awsome doing it. XD)

Samurai Weapon Skills? Well..thats sort of for the other board but I'll briefly mention them. But these are even harder than the Ninja ones, as I'm not totally proficient.

Luckilly, I managed to find these translated at Killing Ifrit (At this thread. http://ffxi.killvoid.com/forums.php?...af8afa7b9dce73 )

Tachi Enpi: Sword Technique: Flying Swallow
Tachi Hobaku: Sword Technique: Blinding Edge
Tachi Goten: Sword Technique: Thunderous Sky.
Tachi KAgero: Sword Technique: Shimmer Heated Air
Tachi Jinpu: Sword Technique: Blowing Mind (As in, stunning the opponent's head)
                          Tachi Koki: Sword Technique: Shining.
Tachi Yukikaze: Sword Technique: Snowstorm (This one I could of guessed, easy.)
Tachi Gekko: Sword Technique: Moon Light
Tachi Kasha: Sword Technique: Chariot of Blossoms. (My personal opinion of its most accurate translation)
Ah but here's one the thread didn't translate. XD
                          Tachi Kaiten: Sword Technique: Revolution

As i know, Ten and Ku both can translate to sky in English, but Ten = heaven for real meaning (as the chinese letter ; and Ku = Air.

Above is the list for Great Katana, i think they are 9 moves of Great Katana art I dont really know. I do recognize those simliar character at start though, they are like 1st move of great Katana (blade, sword etc) blah blah. But kinda cool if you know chinese or play those SNES JP RPG like Romancing Saga.

Just ask some HK friends, and they told me Ku can be translate to English = sky = air = empty . But also Ten can mean sky too.. damn . Heaven is best translation though.

Ten has a mire Tein kinda sound and it does mean sky or in some cases Heaven, even though Heaven as i know it has two words, one word is simplified. The Ku does mean empty space.

The 7th katana skill i know it says something about the wind and the sort with clouds..>> Eigth is something about moonlight and the tenth is a flower car if directly translated, but i am sure it makes sense..>> Enpi i do not understand..hot..flying something..i ain tsure.either that or i read it wrong O.o
