  • Debuffing as a NIN

Okay, so I've heard that Jubaku, Hojo and Kurayami should be used every fight. The problem is having enough time to cast all of them. Here's what I do as a mob is coming in (at level 23):

    1. Target and Provoke it with as soon as possible.
    2. Start casting Kurayami.
    3. Kurayami gets casted and I have maybe 1 or 2 seconds before my 2nd shadow gets ripped off, so I wait to recast Utsusemi.
    4. After Utsusemi is finished, I immediately cast Hojo.
    5. Usually 1 shadow is left after I finish Hojo.

So it seems like I'd only have the chance to safely cast 2 enfeebles (while under the protection of Utsusemi). How am I supposed to fit in the 3rd?

Also, do the NIN enfeebles stack with a RDM or WHM's?

    Thanks.

1)Move slightly forward from the fighting spot, draw your weapons as the monster comes in. As the weapon draw animation starts, hammer on your Kurayami macro.
    2) The puller should run *past* you with the monster in-tow, while you are finishing your Kurayami cast. Timed properly, the monster will be right on top of you or slightly past you when you see the ninjitsu effect hit them.
    3) Hit provoke as the ninjitsu cast finishes, (I hit the * key to auto lock on the monster, tap the down key to quickly face it).

4)Let one round of melee attacks go, they should fire off immediately after the provoke. Immediately follow with jubaku or hojo as the attack animation starts.

    5) You will be missing 1-2 shadows by now, cast jubaku or hojo as your first round of attacks animation started.
At lower levels I believe trying to squeeze in jubaku before hojo is a better choice, because a monster paralyzed for 1 round gives you a much better chance to recast utsusemi:ichi before level 37.

    6) Your 3rd debuff usually doesn't get cast until re-blink, but depending on what you are fighting, your evasion gear and parry luck you can squeeze it all in before the first 3 shadows are gone.

The overall stratedgy here is to not waste time drawing your weapons when the monster is already been pulled, and let your weapons get a round of attacks in between each ninjitsu (so you have some hate from melee attacks built up in case you get a ninjitsu resisted).
Half the battle is managing the first 15 seconds of a fight well.

Well timed actions done in quick succession can generate enough hate that even at higher levels a nin/war does not need a trick attacker to keep hate.

Sorry if I wasn't clear earlier; I already lock on and have my weapons pulled out long before it gets in the range of Provoke.

I could try what you're say, thing. Basically it's to cast one of the 3 enfeebles before you Provoke, right? I think I may have tried it before, but the puller takes a hit or two.

      Thanks for the response, though.
