Im lvl 75 nin and my tanking gear is complete. Now im building an Attack line of equip. The only problem is i need to know what stat jin/ten/and ku depend on. Ive tried str (up to +35) and i have not noticed a significant increase in damage like how Gekko gets a boost. Also if any nin out there has done any experiments with attack im still kinda fuzzy on WHEN attack starts giving diminishing returns on NIN. Currently at 75 with my attack gear my attack is 401 without food with +12 str.

Ya i also try using mainly atk gear and notice very little difference in WS damage. DPS definetly goes up but as far as WS damage I dont think its possible for us to Match or surpass any melee besides a PLD.
I found a post somewhere about Stat mods and under most circumstances either STR or TP played a big factor in WS damage, there were some special cases where Dex and Chr was slightly involved (THF) but for most melee STR is the best mod to increase if you want higher WS damage. Good luck ^^Leatha Crafta Masta

I also forgot to mention Katanas Low DMG Rating being another factor that cripples us when it comes to dmg(highest i believe is about 42ish). ; ;
Anyway to help you with your research I found this link for ya. Babelfish it, maybe it will help ya find something.

I lent a friend of mine my Ochiudo's kote, switching back to using ninja AF gloves for awhile.
I have been getting higher max damage with blade:Jin consistently by about 50+ points. New record is just over 900 damage on a spinel quadav when I was farming.
Soloing decent challenge monsters its 500-600 damage consistently.
Have you maxxed ranger sub yet and given slug shot a try? With a gun belt you'd be at 230 skill, 39 points behind a ranger.
Normal, non critical gun shots on just about everything that flies is a steady 360damage up to easy prey, i've hit some sort of damage cap due to not having fully capped skill or the gun+bullet.
: to slugshot damage on flying creatures, my record is 2718 damage on a citadel bat clearing away a train for the lowbies. Highest damage on something that actually gives me xp was 2k damage on a decent challenge tulwar scorpion.
Best single critical hit from a katana (Sairen) is 130 on just about anything, feels like im killing stuff with paper cuts compared to gun ws shots. Sairen+archer knife swings to build tp and do damage until I gun ws works pretty well.
I have to put more serious research into what the best balance of ranged acc/atk/agi/str is to make this work in a real xp setting. My limited experience so far against tough/vt yagudos in a skill up pt I end up blink tanking because gun damage was doing more than 2 drk's with similar skill levels in great sword or the chain nuking level 70ish rdm's.
I still believe between 37 and 60, nin/rng doesn't put out enough damage to compete strongly against more common damage jobs. Getting Barrage and Slug shot with 30+rng sub, along with the ability to enfeeble, spam elementals and even blink tank (if you have a thf trick attack onto you to give you a head start on hate due to lack of provoke lol) changes everything.
Mithra's have the highest racial AGI at level 75, 16 points ahead of elvaan's which may influence your hit rate with gun and slugshot ws since AGI is a 30% accuracy modifier based on the aforementioned research data someone posted
Ninja still needs a throwing ws to create some 4 digit damage with manji shurikens to feel complete :sweat:
3 Mithra are better than 1...

From what I'ver observed with my DRK and my RDM friend, and my own lower-level NIN(30), ATk gives diminishing returns at about 10-50% higher then Mob's DEF. There is also another Weapon DMG + STR - enemy VIT equation in there, that determines what is the max/min you can do.
Telling actually at what level you should have what is impossible. Only thing I can say is compare ATK to other DD's at your level, and compare STR. If you have the same amount of ATK as a DRK with Mithkabobs and Berserk on, your getting diminishing returns most likely. We also need more STR then them, since their weapon DMG is about 4 times as much as a NIN.
