  • question?

i apologize for asking such a n00bish question but can someone give me an idea of just how much per every 10th level (ex: lvl 20-30) gil it takes to lvl up since everyone says Ninja will kill your bank

I can't tell you that, but I can tell you in my set part at lv40s w/ my NIN I burn about 12-15k gil / hr (depending on how much I use my weak elemental damaging jutsus -_-; I always use debuffs every fight.)

and we get an average of 4k xp / hr. (depends on the zone, sometimes higher, sometimes lower)

my usage could be higher, but we have a WAR/NIN and a THF/NIN using sata between us so it shares the tanking.

it depends. you can get by spending very little. but if you want to be effective you will have to spend a lot.

THere's also one other thing, it depends on weither you want to take Ninja up as a main job or just have it as a sub. Ninja before 37 is totally different than after. Before 37, depending on two things..

        1. If you go Nin/War,
        2. If you go Nin/Rng in the late teens right to 30.

The cost is managable. Nin/War will not spend nearly as much money on tools and the like as it does later. Buying Shuriken really helps your damage ALOT, but its not a necessity. But its certainly nice, so thats an extra cost factor. Your tools will last a lot longer than they do later, especially the Shihei. The most expensive thing about the job is the equipment. The Emperor's Hairpin at early levels is the main thing here. IF you can afford that or get it, it practically becomes a part of your Ninja's head for a very very long time. The rest is somewhat managable, although Windurstian Gi/Tekko etc or Federation Gi/Tekko in the mid 20's is extremely good to have. They're both the same but the Fed Gear is slightly better, but more costly. Depends on you.

Rest is very good to have, but will cost a dime. If you can afford Dodge Earrings, Balance or Reflex Rings, Traveller's Mantle, Sandorian Slacks, the various KAtana's, and Spike Necklace than it really helps out a lot. But essentially you can make it to 37 no matter what, you just need to pay close attention to who is backup tanking with you, as your not a dedicated tank just yet.

Nin/Rng is far more expensive, but its very effective 20-30. If its possible to support this, many would reccomend it. After 37 though...this job transoforms.

After that the cost will be constant and can't be estimated really, so think about it before trudging into those waters. Its not as bad as it sounds though, if you know even small ways to make gil and think of it as dealing with the cost as it comes rather than saving up its not bad at all to cover the tools. Its just the equipment that can get daunting, but you'll have to deal with that as any job.
