  • Ninja-good choice?

ive tried most DD jobs in the game, and ive decided that they most pretty much feel the same, playwise., im looking for something more exciting. So i decided mabye that i would try a diffrent role in a party. I think ninja would be a good challenge for me. I would appreciate to know the type of things that would make me like this job, and the type of things that make all of you ninjas enjoy it. Just looking for various input! thanks!

Note that a good nina doesn't only tank and cast utsusemi. A good nin tank will spam jutsus to get high ammounts of hate.

Ninjas are also surprisingly good at damage dealing. With good gear and lots of gil to spend on powders a nin can be tank and damage dealer at the same time. This is why I prefer a great nin over a great pld.

do you shit gil? otherwise, be prepared to farm like mad to support the job. seriously, you need lots of GIL to step up to the challenge. If you're gonna be cheap, save everyone the time and don't bother.

        Thanks Yyg!

I recently went back to Ninja from Warrior, and it's definitely a unique job. I kind of felt the same as you do, all the DDs are pretty much the same, so I wanted a change of pace.

Blink-tanking is busy work, with not a lot of room for error. I think even if it were cheap, most people wouldn't stay with this job... it's pretty busy. But it's rewarding when you tank an IT mob, not getting hit a single time. Or having an IT mob get more than 10 straight misses/parried against you :p

Before 37 it's a black sheep job, that's the downside. Even at 37 it's kinda annoying because your enfeebling ninjitsus take so long to cast. I can't wait until 44 and 48

As a Ninja in this game, you are a tank/damager/enfeebler all in one package. Reason why I love ninja so much is I feel like a duelist. I feel like I'm dueling with the mob. Its not just taking hits, its calculated damaging and defending. All skill, any slip up can screw me and the others up. But if I keep on my feet, its like keeping them at the end of my sword while I strike critically all the time. Its really unlike any job in this game.

It does have sort of a one-on-one feel. Because ideally we're tanking without cures, doing our own enfeebling for the most part, and the mob is facing us down as long as we're doing our job.

Yes, it feels very distinctively different from tanking as a War/Nin, and I have little experience with Paladin so I can't comment too much, but it seems a similar. As Warrior you're the rough guy, you dish and take huge amounts and you basically keep the thing at you, and take it and give it. Not much subtlety but there doesn't need to be any really, thats cool in its own way. You got some guile with your sub options like /Nin and /Thf but your essentially tackling the enemy old school style. :D

I don't want to assume too much about the Paladin's play style but the many times I've partied with one, they're basically like the sword and shield hero. Waving that sword wildly around while defending and taking the blows, keeping the enemy out of the party's face Classic sword/shield hero battling some big brute style, cept you have that magic to keep it at you. But its usually more set up to get a good party flow going, with the Whm keeping you alive, and the others killing it faster. Like clock work.

Ninja's really like tactically dueling your oppnent, keeping it at the edge of your sword at all times and dodging and parrying all it brings at you while striking back to deal damage, and crippling certain offenses on the spot. Finese. The party doesn't necessarilly keep you alive, but it makes you stronger so you can keep the enemy at bay better. The rest kill it faster because well, even the best duelist's have they're limit. One wrong move can have the mob running you over to get the rest for some pain.

It could also be the twin short sword style Ninja's use, it wasn't a total offensive style. It was prett famous as a very potent defensive offense style, big on parrying, pressure and timed attacks during opportunities you give yourself to end it. Its the kind of thing I usually think when I see twin Wakazashi's or Ninjato's.
