Now that Squenix has decided to rape Ninja tanks, kicking them down to Dragoon-like status by making any AOE strip all shadows, you will be welcomed into the the NIN/RNG fold. Signups start on 9/21. =P

For the record, I think that this nerf is totally ridiculous and unnecessary. They should have just nerfed /NIN. I think this will kill the ninja class, as NIN/RNG is just too expensive for most players to play full time, and NIN/WAR will have no point (except vs. beetles, yay!). Ninja was already the third least popular job in the game... is that too much?

I have to say, after the CoP incorperation, Ninja will be the least used class....even the Dragoons will have popularity over them :p (who ever wishes to take Ninja to lvl 75....better grind like there's no tommorrow....)

Why don't you make a leveling guide from 37-75, listing only mobs that won't kill all your shadows with random AOE TP attacks? Have fun with that. =P

Seriously, if you can't see how badly this rapes NIN, you're pretty far gone. I guess since you are already 75, it may not much matter to you, though.

And you make it sound like potentially losing all your shadows 3 seconds after you just cast them (against almost every mob type that people exp on) is no big deal. It's a huge nerf.

Why do you care if NIN's get nerfed? who gives a shit don't make a big deal out of it, wait and see how it goes... this is exactly why DRG have had a shitty time finding PT's because everyone is like "OMG DRG IS SO CRAPPY BLAH BLAH BLAH SO WEAK ETC", instead of starting some thread proclaiming how NIN is screwed, maybe wait and see what happens before you start bitching about stuff you are completely unaware of.

I second that. Watch out for your reputation more than anything else! Do not start the rumors that NIN are screwed or gimped or anything, because it will bite YOU in the ass when parties are looking for members.

They will look at you and an other job and say "hmmm, I heard that NIN is no good after the expansion... better choose the non-ninja..."

Take it easy, relax, and sssshhhhhh!!! Wait and see... no need to start putting dents in the NIN's reputations just yet... People are ignorant and sometimes rumours speak louder than facts...

if I take an AE attack I can swap to an all evasion setup and drk and blm can stun and whm can flash.

When I played nin early on ~30-50 and voke was all that was needed I had a maxxed evasion setup and could go ni->ni and sometimes whole fights with just one ni, vs IT.

How exactly does this stop me from hitting a macro after it uses an AE and doing the exact same thing?

All it will do is put more ninjas on the evasion+emnity build which I currently hold as inferior to acc+atk+eva build but whatever your style is this really isnt the "RAPE" you talk of.


You don't even know the exact details of the patch yet your proclaiming nin are the new drg, please go back to DAOC or SWG where e-penis waving at "nerfs" is commonplace.

The only surprise here is that your not a PLD who doesn't want any other jobs to be able to tank.

oh another small point.

Ninjas evade 90% of physical AE attacks.

I was solo skilling up vs chamber beetles ( sword skill ) in garlaige ( EM-TOUGH ) on my nin, and serket popped, most of his AE was evaded, I had hardly any +eva equipment either, just +15.

Vs exp mobs these things never hit, I did 52-55 on knight crawlers and crawler hunters on the third map ( to simu ) near the awd goggie room, never got hit a SINGLE time by the scorps AE attacks, or took a single WS hit.

Fact is ninjas still rock, ninjas will always rock, and now I'm going to flip out and kill yo, word ( a little levity sorry ~_~ )

If that's so good, try tanking without any shadows. Since equipment swapping solves the problem, who needs Utsusemi, right?

I know the exact details that Squenix said, which are:

"The effect of the ninjutsu Utsusemi will be completely removed by area attacks."

...yet you have people questioning whether or not goblin bombs will remove shadows? OK.

The point is, NIN tanking is going to about to get a leg chopped out. You want to try to make it work anyway? Good for you; fight the power! But don't try to act like nothing has happened. When THF and DRG got hit with the nerf bat, they at least didn't try to pretend like they are still the best.

Of course, maybe (as Modnar suggested) you guys are actually just thinking ahead and getting the propaganda machine rolling already. "NIN can still tank fine without shadows!"

If you go all out evasion you do much less damage making it harder to maintain agro on you, one of the reasons ninja exp seems quicker is not just reduced downtime, ninja will do at least double paladins damage.


Simple reason I prefer a mixture of atk acc and eva is to increase my damage, as long as I can still blinktank effectively why do I need to evade every hit? Also casting utsusemi itself gives a good amount of hate.

Let me know when you have nin at 60 or higher and can comment on the job. ( or rdm whm smn past 60 so you can tell the difference ).

Gryff in laying down the wyzdom. Im a 60+ drk now playing a ninja and EYEAAH! ninjas evade very well on AoE and the spider dude doesnt know how to read. "Area Attacks" and last i checked a Attack lol damaged you so by just being able to read you can figure out that AOE that do not DO DAMAGE will probably not drop all shadows.

Umm...ok, you switch to all EVA if you cant cast Ni or Ichi, then you wont be able to hit hard for a tad. That wont help your hate management, and remember, you are the tank.

Yeah, I suppose you are not going to get hit much, but when you do be prepared to eat at least twice more damage than a PLD. There goes the MP conservation of a WHM.

For the most part I agree with Spider-Dan, as some of you NIN behave like "oh its nothing, 1 or 2 macros can solve this". It is a major change to NIN tanking as it makes them even more situational and less reliable. The final evalution will come 1-2 weeks after CoP, sure, but stop fooling yourselfs as if this was nothing.
