This is probably a question you guys get a lot, but Im not to type to dig through forums so...

How hard would it be to become a ninja without being rich? I want to play the game, not farm. Would I be a good ninja if I did that, or are the ninja abilities (you have to buy powders and stuff dont you?) just too expensive?

Also, would subbing thf help at all or do would it not really make a dent till higher lvls?

Any input besides "this has already been posted before" is much appreciated.

    Thanks.

No, you wouldn't. You'd be a gimp ninja. But don't feel bad, theres LOTS of them.

Subbing thf is what ninja's sub who don't have the money to properly play the job. You don't see alot of them around, mostly because they don't get invites very much.

Its pretty much like a Ranger not spending money or investing time to use consumable ammo for guns and bows.

I haven't met anyone really who'd invite a Ranger that says he can throw a boomerang, or has a badass knife only to a party, cause he's low on gil.

Well yea Im not a complete idiot, I just didnt know if you had to have a LOT of gil saved up to be a ninja. Thats what I was asking. Like I went into the rangers forum and some guy was talking about he had somewhere imbetween 200-300k and they said that would get him to lvl 30. Id rather xp or quest than farm, so I guess I wont be making a nin or rng.

Don't worry guy, I didn't mean it that way.

Well its still expensive, but 1-37 isn't as expensive as after you start fully blink tanking. Two stacks of Shihei could very well get you 2-3 levels. Most expensive thing is your equipment, and most of it isn't that hard to get. Except maybe the Emperor's hairpin, which is really useful. Ninja gets more expensive later on, but if you ever want to level it as a sub the most difficult thing earlier on isn't the cost, its really making the right party to better use yourself in, since you don't have the second blink to fall back on and be a full tank. Throwing earlier on is very useful to offset your low DW damage at those levels, so that may be some money down the drain, but its really useful. Generally, the lower levels arn't that expensive. If you spend wisely 300k could get you to 37. Maybe less if you know how to manage you spending. Ofcourse the more you put in, the more you get. It also depends on weither you get the hairpin or not.

really most gear for a ninja isnt to bad early on. there are a couple of peices that will set you back, travlers mantle is 1 item, it runs about 30k an emperors hairpin is another. that runs you over 300k depending on the servers. then most nin when they duel weild will go dagger, or sword. thus you could recycle. from the previous job

also if you have max fame in bastok you can pick up most ni scrolls for under 1500 a pop, an your blink scroll is an easly to do quest in norg. about 50k worth of zincs will get you enough fame. to get the quest.

as for blink tanking. you are gonna find out that most of the time you are gonna get interupted. so really the powders to cast it wont get wasted to much. really after the early 20's. thats when you will find out how cool blink tanking is...

another thing is most wont pt with you cause of thf sub, most like nin for there second voke, an there ability to be good pullers.. just some more info for you to swallow....

Nin75, Bst75. Drk61, War61, Rdm40, All other jobs are 37. All 3 starting city missions completed. All Zilart missions completed. All CoP missions completed. TouA completed.
