fast evasion question

Started playing my ninja and now at lvl 20 i notice my evasion is always capped due to me being a lvl60+ DRK.. I am curious if i keep adding evasion gear will it help or do nothing since it is capped? i ask this question because im looking to add more dmg/def related gear, why wear windurstian gear at 25 if my evasion is constantly caped? Also later on if im over capin my evasion and if the -20 evasion on haubergeon doesnt hurt should i buy/use one? i ask mainly because 1.5 is easier then the 5 mill for scorp harness.

But....if your base evasion is capped, you can still up it more with items correct?
For example I am a PLD and my evasion will pretty much always be capped if I play NIN, but +eva from gear will still add to my capped evasion, even if it doesnt show it on the status screen, right?

Yes, you can have your Evasion Skill capped, and get better results by adding +Evasion equipment on.

+Eva equipment doesnt add to your skill though, not sure how much different they are.

You can increase your skill with items like the Evasion Torque(dont know if theres others)

see now i have a problem with a lot of this. You can see how much evasion u have and see if its caped. If i had +eva gear even though its caped it still does not raise in number but yet i am suppose to think that it still helps? for example as a blink tank with caped eva should i get the evasion geat at say lvl 25(the windurstian evasion pants and gi) or should i use chainmail? what will make me a better tank? i would think since my evasion is already caped wouldnt the def help me more?

I need to know the how and why and not just that it does. Brynie is an option but i am not exactly wild about it. I am looking to wear something that boosts my damage and i think the haub would do more. Also at 62+ your suppose to use Arhats set in tank situations i think? a set that is pure tanking gear. in the end my main problem is id love to get a scorp harness but thats just not going to happen anytime soon. atm i am going to use duel snipers and other atk related gear (ie bomb core).

Evasion definitely is increased even if your cap is met, through evasion equipment.

Although there is an ongoing debate now as to weither or not it increases Evasion skill by actual points you just can't see on the status screen, or weither it increases it in a lesser way.

Like some people say when it says Evasion is increased only, it increases it a little by each point. Where as if you had something that said "Evasion Skill" increased by so on, it would actually raise evasion by a point, even if capped. Some say it makes no difference, because "Evasion Skill" is featured in very ,very few armor pieces where as "EVasion" is featured in many. Some say its just extra typing to say that you have evasion bonus, but so far I've never heard a conclusion come to.

But no matter what, even if evasion is capped, equipping evasive equipment that +'s past the cap limit still increases it no matter what. It doesn't just stop. So keep the evasion on a high.

evasion has a hidden attribute i believe. i noticed this with my old war job when i wore 2 dodge earrings. my evasion stat never did go up. but i did notice a few more dodges during fights.

And yes with evasion gear you can exceed capped evasion.

Really how the Whole +Evasion and +Evasion Skill is in the game it's a bad descriptive effort. From how it is there seems to be two Evasions.

Evasion Skill feeds a value in Evasion.

On some gear that flat out says +Evasion is hard to tell which it's talking about because some will raise the Evasion Skill directly but some raise the Evasion Value that is not shown.

As far as the visible change to the skill any time you add the +Evasion Skill it shifts everything your new cap and were you are currently at all raise by that number.

So if you have 120 Evasion Skill and it's to cap at 123, then if you get an Evasion Skill boost of 7 then you will have 127 Evasion Skill with cap of 130. Even when you get to the skills lv. 75 cap it'll shift it higher because it shifts everything.

So instead of 0 being your skills base that it calculates from it's using this new number of 7 or whatever you get it at with the +Evasion Skill items.

haubergeon has a -20 evasion, but when i put it on my capped evasion never went down, but when i went to farm i did notice i got hit alot more. so without hesitation i gave it back to my drk buddy..:spin:

Yeah I think its just a random typo too myself. Like some equipment that says like..."Enhancing Magic + etc", then some others say "Enhancing Skill+ etc", different wording but it basically does the same thing.
