  • Must-haves for level 1-37?

Sorry for the long post but I need to clear some stuff.

This post is mainly asking what I need from levels 1-37-

First off, I do plan on buying a stack of shurikens at level 18 to use now and then or for emergencies perhaps. I don’t plan on using them more than once a battle though (at least not until higher up in levels), since the powders are expensive enough, I couldn’t afford a constant supply of them.

As to what powders to use, I know Utsusemi is a no brainer. How many stacks should I carry pre-37? I hear anywhere from 2-5 so any opinions here would help. I will probably carry some Shinobi-Tabi for Tonko, but that doesn’t seem like a Ninjutsu you would use often, just now and then, correct? Like sneaking past gobs or something, but still not a necessity

As for the Elemental Ninjutus, which do you suggest carrying? Most people I know whom are Ninjas do not carry all of the Elementals, however they are not level 37+ so I do not know if that changes.
Uchitake is very expensive on my server >_< Any suggestions as to which powder(s) I should be carrying with me? I was thinking of 2 stacks of 2 particular Ninjutsus, sound good? Does this change after 37+ with the Ni spells?

And then the last three Ninjutsus, I hear often Kurayami and Hojo being used. Are these 2 the best to have? I don’t think I want to carry anymore than 2 of the debuff Ninjutsus. So pretty much, which ones are best to use when it comes to effectiveness and gaining hate?

And lastly, can anyone tell me the main (expensive) equipment a Ninja should have from levels 1-37? I don’t want a big guide on it all, but are there any key katanas/sword or armor that a Ninja should definitely have? I plan on camping Lizzie for the boots and buying the Emperors Hairpin (price is starting to drop on Carbuncle Server ) And I should be focusing on Agility and Evasion correct?

Well that’s about it, I’m going to hit 30 and unlock Ninja very soon and I cant wait. Thanks to any and all who help answer the questions

shuriken: you really don't *need* them at all. if you are struggling between equips/powders, it's definitely the most expendable part of tanking ninja.

powders: i carried 2 stacks sairui-ran (kura) 2 kaginawa (hojo) 1 stack jusatsu (jubaku). before :ni , i like them all equally, though i will try to use kurayami the most cuz tools are the cheapest. elemental :ichi is a complete waste, i don't bother with them aside from hyoton (tsurara is cheapest tool, spam for ninjutsu skillup). debuff powders i'd only need to refill maybe 2-3 EXP PT (most leaders are smart about pairing blinktanks together, or putting nin/war with thf/nin). as for shihei, i like to carry 5-6 stacks. ppl often say that's too much, but i've experienced having a PT break, then on-site somebody else will lose their tank and i'll get invite immediately. bonus!

equips: you already listed the expensive equips for nin :3 the rest is not bad, cost is on par with equipping a war (for now, at least).

Just stick to agi, evade and acc equipment. From what i see, nin doesnt have to buy much gear like other jobs so once you hit 25 then get the federation or windy tekko(25), emperors haripin(24), sandorian or federation pants(25?), warriors belt(15), windy or fed kyhan or something else if you feel like it, and the body peice is where i like to add def since you probably wont have that much evade at lower levels.

This set up can take you from 25-37 or so (if your elvaan then you can change the feet to rse) with little or no gear change at all except for the body, go chainmail to silvermail cause anything in between is not worth the time and money imo.

        THF:15 SMN:20 BST:7 BLM:15 RNG:10 WAR:21 NIN:39 rest i forget or 20+

travelers mantle is pretty nice to have (30k on Midgard)

not to mention all the bone/beetle +1 you can buy is also very nice at their respective levels since each piece is +1 evasion

well.. if u've problems holding hate, you can go with elemental wheel, but it's only lvl 40+ so only Tsurara is useful at low levels, to rise your ninjutsu skill

beetle +1 or bone+1 is not worth the money. only evasion gear you need is silver earrings+1, from 14 to 21, then do mythril earrings+1 21- 29. an then dodge earrings. . travlers mantle is good it takes you from 12 to 21. then its the night cape at 21. at 24 is when you should start looking at armor with + evasion.

as for weapons i stick with the katana's, i have a thf/nin i used to lvl who dueled weild 1 sword an 1 dagger. an depending on the skillchain id switch hands. plus i think it just ads to the look of a ninja,

when i did throwing i just used darts til shurikens. then i used shurikens as another way to manage hate. but if you wish to save money for powders. an lvl throwing at lvl 28 i think you get the throwing weapon thats starts with (char). not to sure on the name. just that it reminds me of xena,,

as for powders the number of stacks you carry go up as you lvl. but for right now carry 1 stack of invis, 2 stacks of blink. 2-6 stacks of blink, 2 stacks of paralyze, 2 stacks of the one that lowers attack speed. an then depending on what sc you do like blizzard. brings powders that lower the mobs resistance to blizzard.

really once you lvl you will now how much to carry. an suchblink tanking is a job we all learn as we go..

Nin75, Bst75. Drk61, War61, Rdm40, All other jobs are 37. All 3 starting city missions completed. All Zilart missions completed. All CoP missions completed. TouA completed.

Here's the question that I can't seem to get any answer from in-game....how the HECK do you pass 24-30 w/o a spt? Everyone knows those little onions you want to kick around are monk type ><. I was thinking though, wouldn't 2 hit monsters be practically the same as 1 hitting type monster since their downtime between hits is pretty much longer?

Well, for one thing.. they do so little damage.. and the other thing, it's actually easier to recast utsusemi because there's more delay between their attacks..

You can blink until you lose blink, and after you lose it you can still tank. Mandgragoras hit you for crap. I did it as a taru RNG/WAR and taru NIN/WAR. Plus, you'll most likely have BLMs that haven't learned they dont need to keep hate by spamming their best spells that will take some damage off you enough to recast. From 1-37 its good to have an extra NIN/WAR or WAR/NIN to share tanking with.

funny thing about those mandras is they are actually pretty easy to solo blink tank, they hit for tiny damage and with decent +evasion you'll dodge most attacks; so long as the mages are competant to land slow/para/blind etc..

i'm finding bats the most annoying: because of the evasion down. since most whms at those levels dont have erase its pretty rough in behe dominion or garlaige.

i soloed with absolute shit gear (no +eva stuff) on mandragoras 29-32 very easily since you can kill > run inside kazham and reset subjob for full hp and run back out. best of all you dont even lose food effects! but yeah mandragoas hit for such piss poor damage that i didnt even bother to recast blink ever 24-32
