Katana NMs

I've killed Beryl Footed Malberry 4 times now and not a single Hototogisu.


Anyone know what the drop rate is like?


0/4 vs this and 0/1 vs the Sozu Sarberry ( drops Hocho ).


Also does anyone know the drop rate of the Nightmare Vase?
( Drops Shinogi - lvl 52 kat ) not tried this one yet.

16 kills, 3 deaths before I got hototogisu. 2 hour wait to get another rattle each time to spawn him (if someone doesnt beat you to it since people kill it for the gil drop). I've run into some level 70ish ninja looking for it even. Another friend got it after about a dozen kills. I love the weapon because of the speed and accuracy, I use it all the time still.

4 kills trying for Hocho, nothing yet - its sold for 500k about every 3-4weeks, it must be very low drop rate as well.

Its all about patience.

What lvl PT do you need to kill Beryl Footed for the hototogisu?

And if you don't mind, could you tell me how you get to him? :sweat:

I got mine on the 3rd attempt.

1 level 75 ninja can solo it, hes really easy.

hototogisu NM is quite easy, myself+71 pld friend duo'd it the last 2-3 times


I'm now up to 0/5 my friends are all getting a rattle each and we're going to pop it 3-4 times in a row every day or two.

Sat here camping hocho NM atm waiting for rattle to repop.


Hocho has only sold three times on my server ~_~


Anyway to get to the hototogisu NM, you first need a tonberry rattle ( rare/ex ) this pops in one of the rooms on the first map, behind the openable doors either side of the entrance.

Once you have the rattle go to the Picture room where you use the paintbrush of souls to unlock the door, its the ??? in that room.


So clear the room then trade the rattle to pop the NM.



Nobody have info on Nightmare Vase?

Yes the NM is a pushover for a level 75 :p
It is a challenging venture for those people in a pt of 55-60s to get though, a throat stab at the wrong time or his 2hr can ruin your day.

Anyone have experience against the Celete-eyed Tozberry in Den of Rancor? I'm looking to get the 'kitsutsuki' katana.

now 0/7 vs Malberry and just spent 6hrs trying to pop sozu sarberry to no luck.

took me about 6 tries for my hototogisu.

died twice total fromthe Mijin Gakure. Hilarious as hell.

worth every bit of XP for that katana tho.

looking at katana in AH.. there are very few weapon selection for NIN..

• Respawn of the '???' trigger in paintbrush room is about ~15min if you have multiple people with rattle wanting to spawn NM.
• Tonberry NM will return to his spawn point and despawn in less than 5 minutes if you do not defeat it (after a wipeout or escape).

Note: Recommended party is 6players level 55-60 or 1-2 level 70+

That's random. Cooking skill+3 is every ninja's best friend.

cooking skill+3 is equal to having every single guild item ^^.

Cooking skill+6 is very nice for doing cheap skill recipes at a much lower level etc :-]
