  • I want to be a ninja, but......

I hear its mega expensive... next to Ranger the most expensive job in the game! I'm now considering if I should go DRK and save up money, take my 30WAR/15THF to 40/20 and get some money in the process, or just stop at 30, pump as much money as I can into my mog house and immediately start ninja. Your input would be appreciated.

Well you can play drk and spend all the time you lfg in the 40's and farm for your ninja, should have uber euip
A key to playing a expensive job is taking time out from the lvl process and farm/craft/fish
If you are happy at only lvl'ing a few days a week (ninjas get pt's fast with war sub) and the rest of the time building up your gil and equip you should do fine.

So you're saying I could level DRK, or I could start NIN straight up when I get to level 30 as long as I take lots of time to farm every now and then? Would the rest of you agree?

        Heres your best bet:
        1. Find some form of income
        2. Spend some time studying the job's weakenesses and strength
        3. Im not calling you lazy but dont me lazy about farming or take shortcuts because tweaking and fine tuning you nin's gear and your style of play work hand in hand.

If your up for a real challenge then your ready to play ninja.

        Personal advice:
Another thing i would suggest is to watch and hook up with a good ninja on your server. many will say theyre good and only voke for hate and might have sold Utsusemi: ichi so just pass them over or if they say "Ninja arent tanks really" then ignore them because they are probably dead weight in a PT. Ask them to help you out wish some advice and compare it to other NIN and see if there is a common ground or a style you can adapt to or just make your own.

DO NOT GET PLed (powerleveled) and i say this because every hit you can make/take helps your parry, evade, katana, throwing, ninjutsu, and if you use a GK, then it effects your GK skills.

Im against PLing main jobs especially NIN because i was once PLed in the dunes and im very sorry for that and i have to spend extra time leveling my ninjutsu because of the interupts in battle. when you hit 40 and chain elementals then that would help keep your ninjutsu capped if its horrible.

In the dunes you might want to PT with another war or nin to help share hate (you can learn alot at this point especially). http://ffxi.killvoid.com/forums.php?m=posts&q=9968
This is a nin who i spent a while talking to about nin and i also use a similar gear set up: evasion < agi < acc and ranged attack if i can get my hands on it.

Btw when does evasion get redundant? i have +10 in agi and i cant tell the difference in how many hits miss and how many eat up shadows (i see alot of misses and sometimes go: ni ni ni the whole battle)
        Fyreus:
        My job combos:
        NIN/WAR
        RDM/WAR-DRK-SMN

        -----------------------------------------------
        THF:15 SMN:20 BST:7 BLM:15 RNG:10 WAR:21 NIN:39 rest i forget or 20+

After reading your post and going out to get some field experience with some of the stronger ninja's on ragnarok, I have decided that I WILL begin ninja as soon as possible, and I AM going be patient and delicate with the job, taking breaks in between levels to make sure I can keep up with my parties and help in whichever way I can. I'm starting on my goldsmithing craft, and I am going to push it as high as I can to make the most out of it, along with crawler farming on the side for silks which sell for quite a bit. If i didnt get your message correctly, please correct me  heh. But if I did, I thank you graciously for your insight.
