  • Evasion Up and Blink 2 Question

So anyway I was thinking of solo skilling sword and evasion on my rdm, so I subbed nin and headed over to boyahda, found an even match crab and went to work.

First thing I noticed, Blink2 only gave me 3 shadows instead of 4. I was always under the impression that blink1 = 3 shadows, blink2 = 4 shadows, regardless of whether it is nin main or nin sub, but apparently this is not the case.

Also, after about an hour and 2 stacks of shihei, my sword rose 4 levels, and my evasion rose exactly 0. Not a single fraction of a skillup point out of over 200 hits. Now I'm fairly certain that evasion should lvlup even when blinking, otherwise all ninjas would have ther evasion skill severely gimp, but it did cross my mind that perhaps evasion doesn't skillup when you're blinking with nin subjob.

    Any comments/ideas/observations/answers?

maybe its related to your ninjitsu skill?

depends what your evasion skill actually is.

if its very very low, you may need to move lower in the tree, if its very very high, you may have to go fight some tough or VT monsters..

if the skill is below 200, go skill up down near where aquarius pops, and fight the monk type mobs for max evade up.

if its over 200, the steelshells should work fine, im really not sure why it wont budge.

Well I was fighting even match monsters, and thus in theory I should be able to cap all my skills on it. In any case I finally found a friend who was 74-75 and a 37+ ninja sub to test it out, and he also only got 3 shadows from utsusemi:2, so I'm assuming that's just how it is.

Unless anyone can tell me otherwise Probably isn't ninjutsu skill lvl either cos mine is capped for lvl 37.

Yes blink2 only gives 3 shadows when subbed, i believe the recast time is also longer (15seconds more).

SquareEnix 's quiet little nerfing of subbing ninja that noone really points out :p
One more reason why war/nin isnt all its cracked up to be 74+.

Ninjitsu skill helps the odds of finishing the cast if you manage to take a hit before its complete, but its not that common for ninja main job, so halflevel skill ninitsu = good luck finishing a cast if you take a hit.

Evasion does skillup easier when you manage to dodge hits with blink down in my opinion - inevitably you have to pop defender and take a round or two of a buttkicking at least once a level because you lose rhythm or monster eats your shadows too fast and asks for seconds. Skillup comes in little batches then disappears for awhile, almost like it is tied to day of the week or moon phase like other things

Needing 20k xp for a level now, evasion can lag 1-2 points from being capped almost until I hit the next level.

Thanks :spin: it took me forever to locate a Negoroshiki (highest usuable ninja gun) but its alot of fun and has some really good range on it.
I took the picture while I was messing around in korroloka last night camping morion worm and other stuff. 6k for a stack of bullets makes for some very expensive skillup but shooting flying type monster like bats = less miss and more skillup(along with constant critical against flying types).

No luck on finding Negoroshiki +1 (has +5ranged acc) but i'm curious what kind of damage this could do with a leveled RNG sub and capped marksmanship letting a slugshot loose :p
I'd never count on getting a leveling pt with rng sub, its just something to do on the side for fun.

Even with nin/war and not being able to use gun ws, people kinda just stare when a ninja pulls out a gun lol.
