  • Ninja and the "quick draw"

Greetings fellow Ninja. I started this topic in hopes of obtaining a
macro or technique in snagging a mob. One day I was competeing
for Forest Tigers in Jugner vs this Paladin for tiger claws at the monument. I was using "Provoke" from my macro and he was casting a spell to which i've no recollection of name and for the most part he out drew me 70% of the time. I'm really not sure how. We did this for at least an hour before I finally had to concede the spot. What bothered me most was I know im pretty quick with this macro in snagging a mob and have beaten quite a few people at it, but after that day I knew he had some sort of edge over me, which is why I turn to my shadow breathren for aid. I'd hate to be camping an N.M like the Valkrum Emperor only
to have it stolen so easily. One last note: I was going back and forth between "F-8" and 0 to target my creature. Should i be doing something else?

He was most likely casting flash, and he probably had THF subbed. Thieves have the ability to see dots on their maps that represent the mobs. The dot appears on the map about a full second before the character model fills in on the screen, depending on how much detail is in the area, and what you have your graphics turned up to. To compete with him, you'd need to setup a macro like this:

      /targetnpc
      /provoke <t>

That way you could provoke it long before you ever saw it. Since you can't see the dots, you'd just have to spam it, which can get kinda boring.

No as a THF you get the dots on your RADAR, she isnt talking about Wide Scan.

Not the big map Kibagami. The little radar like map on the left side of the screen, above the clock.

                    Apparently, so does SMN.

Are you sure that other melee do not?
