  • Ninja costs to level 37

I'm sorry if this thread has been repeated a hundred times over, but it's a question that has been bugging me lately. I plan on subbing NIN to my THF, and I have been wondering:

How much will it cost for me to level Ninja to 37?

By 'cost' I mean things like Ninja Powders, fame for the Utsusemi: Ichi and Tonko: Ichi quests, etc. (Excluding weapons and armor). I don't want to spend a lot of money on this class, so can I rely on only Utsusemi: Ichi and Tonko: Ichi to get me to the mid-30's level range? If I don't buy elemental powders such as Raiton, will I make a bad Ninja? Again, I want to be a good Ninja, but I just don't feel like spending 100k leveling a sub...

    Any help would be appreciated

If you want to play a good Ninja, it will cost you much more than 100k to get to 37. You'll probably spend that much, if not more, than that just on Shihei alone if you blink tank.

The elemental debuff ninjutsu Ichi line is ok, but isn't really required. Hojo and Kurayami are much more effective and useful, and help with holding hate.

If you want to have enough fame to do Utsusemi and Tonko quest, you'll have to do the zinc ore quest about 25 or so times. Price varies on how cheap you can get the zinc ores.

If you want to do REALLY well, then shurikens/bullets are gonna cost a pretty penny as well.

Ninja is definitely not a cheap job.

I got 0-37 in couple days

I started using Blink at 20
and till 30 I could use 1 stack per 2 levels
in 30s it turned into 1 stack per level

"I don't want to spend a lot of money on this class," which will mean no debuff, no elementals no shurikens just going to skate by w/ blink and invis.

          NIN/THF

Would it be cheaper if I only used Elemental Powders for damaging (as a NIN/THF) instead of buying powders to tank with?

It'd be around the same amount, if not more.

I don't have my notes near me but it was about 500k to get to mid 30s including equipment, thats not including the cost of buying Ochiudo Kote/stars/gun/bullets which would double that.
Shihei isnt really an expense until level 15+ or so, and then its 4-6k a level until you get Ni roughly. Tack on another 1-2k if you arent a complete cheapass and use tsurara at least for Hyoton:ichi to keep ninjitsu skill capped :p
The elemental Ichi series is anything but damaging unless you MB with it on high def monsters.
Funny thing about Tonko powder is that i'm still working on using up my 1st stack I bought way back at level 9  i think theres about 35 casts left lol.

I spent quite a bit, but as far as consumables (which is where you actually lose money, equipment is "free" provided you have the cash for the initial outlay), maybe 100-150k to level 37? I used bullets until 24, bought all of the elemental ninjitsu save one which is never on sale, used mithkabobs after level 20, and tanked with shihei 90% of the way up.

Frankly you could get to 37 cheaply, provided you have no scruples about just being dead weight in a group. I saw other ninjas doing it, most of them with the garbage sub THF. Of course it really ruins the perception that new players have of the job, but you don't seem to be concerned about anything except getting your sub up.

I specifically said I want to be a good Ninja, and I don't consider being dead weight in a group "good". I guess I am going to need at least 150 - 200k to level Ninja to 37.. I was hoping it wouldn't be as expensive as some people make it out to be I guess I will camp Lizzy or farm a bunch to get the foundation set for leveling NIN. Thanks for the help guys :spin:

If I don't camp the Emperor I'm looking at 700k in equipment just for lvl 24/25.

This would be my ideal equipment setup for level 25.

                    Ninja Level 25 Equipment
                    Totals: Def:51 | +4 HP | +3 STR | +9 VIT | +6 DEX | +5 AGI | -6 MND | +25 evasion | -2 attack | +7 ranged attack | +3 accuracy | +3 ranged accuracy | +16 earth

                    Federation Gi (Def:17 +1 VIT +3 evasion)
Federation Kyahan (Def:6 +4 attack +4 ranged attack +6 earth)
                    Kingdom Trousers (Def:14 +1 VIT +3 evasion)
                    Warrior's Belt +1 (Def:2 +4 HP +3 VIT)
Federation Tekko (Def:7 +3 accuracy +3 ranged accuracy)
Emperor Hairpin (-15 HP +3 DEX +3 AGI +10 evasion)
                    Nomad's Mantle +1 (Def:3 +2 AGI +3 evasion)
Spike Necklace (+3 STR +3 DEX -6 MND)
                    2x Mythril Earrings +1 (+3 evasion -3 attack)
                    2x Stamina Ring +1 (Def:1 +2 VIT +5 earth)

                    Flame Sword (Dam:16 Delay:218 Add:Fire)
                    Mokuto +1 (Dam:12 Delay:227 Add:Silence)

^^ Not much in the way of weapon upgrades although I could use any of the following:

                    Parrying Knife (Dam:11 Delay:195 +10 Parrying)
                    Corrosive Dagger (Dam:11 Delay:178 Add:Weaken Defense)
                    Bastokan Dagger (Dam:11 Delay:173 +2 accuracy +2 evasion)
                    Federation Knife (Dam:13 Delay:180 +2 accuracy +5 attack)

                    Weapon Skill Affinity: Katana A- / Dagger C- / Sword C
