Yeah I know they're not real symbols for the most part, but the formula's there. The thing where someone slashes and Symbols appear out of nowhere (usually where the slash is) appears in so many different things (with Japanese sword fighting anyways) I knew it'd be put in at one point.
Oh man. Kenshin(Aoshi and Hiko the prime suspects), Shitan from Xenogears, Baiken from Guilty Gear. Countless Samurai/Ninja live action movies (For good or worse) Some classic Samurai Hiei. Spagetti Westerns, Naruto, Blade of the Immortal (I love the way its done in that manga) and probably a lot more from games, books, movies, whatever. Its just something you need to have with an Asian born job in this game, at least once.
I think its like a distinct style of showing a move in action. Advanced weapon moves are like scriptures and technical processes to almost all of these weapon based martial arts. Its like a way of physically advertising how the move works or something like that..not like the Kanji symbols jump out and literally hit the other guy.
My father once mentioned that the concept of literally "Poetry in motion", as in these extravagant pictures of someone initiating a move with the explaination of what the move is in writing literally coming to life in motion. Its a popular thing in asian culture in particular Like the move literally comes to life.
hmmmmmm reminds me of those older chinese black and white films, where the "weapon skills" of the character is usually from the palm, a trail of "cloud" or "chi"(shown through really lousy animation) appears, where the end is a big cloud with the weapon in it, and the two "clouds" will go push each other around.
some times, the main hero 's "Ultima Weapon" is A WORD or a few lines of words forming either a poem or the erm...how do i say this...its called "Kou Jue" in chinese, basically the way of that skill in verbal form.
Actually, when you see random symbols in Anime, Movies, or Games, while they may not be Kanji, they /are/ a language: Sanskrit. As you may know, Japan is a Buddhist nation, and one of the many evolutions of Buddhism was Esoteric Buddhism, which let people fly, throw fireballs, etc. if they trained hard enough and were able to focus their minds. Sanskrit symbols, chants, and hand motions were all ways of channeling this inner power.
Originally posted by Regulat0r Cool vid, kinda makes me want to play ninja less now after seeing you miss so much and when you did hit you did only 33 ><
And blade: jin only did 126 LOL. Ninjas have the awesome cool factor but unfortunetly they seem to lack everything else damn..
Im amazed that you got your ninja so high, mine is currently 18 and I want to blow my brains out from all the ninja tanking. Dealing no dmg, barely gaining tp, and just sitting there casting rapid fire utsusemis makes my head hurt ><
