  • ? about Leeches

Ive searched the forums but havent seen info on this yet, im sure its been covered though so sorry if im double posting.

What do I need to take out the 3 Leeches. Ive heard it's really hard with a lvl 30 PT. Also read a post about the despawn-solo method but theres no confirmation on it.

Any suggestions on PT setup, lvl, or outside help would be great.

    Thanks much.

A level 50 tank, dmg dealer, and mage should have no problem with the leeches. I helped a friend get the Ninja job, and our party was 45 RDM (me), 50+ DRG, and 50+ MNK. No problems at all. I think a full party of lvl 38-40's should have no problems. Any level's lower than that, I don't know because I never tried it any lower levels.

We did it with a 44 blm/smn, and a 45 rdm/blm (me), was a fairly simple fight. just make sure you sleep two of them, and wipe them out one at a time and you should have no trouble.

You could probably do it with a full alliance of 30s, if each party in the alliance functioned indepedently on one leech... it would probably be extremely easy if you did it that way. ;P

It'd just be a pain to organise... heh.

A level 55ish ninja should be able to solo them. They should responde to such a request for help if in bastok. Its a short trip and real easy. I personally have helped many many people with the quest. Cause I appreciated the help getting it myself back when i was a lvl 30 war. I would hope that most other ninja think the same way.

So, basically, it's not possible for a single party of level 30+/40- to do this quest?

You can do this in your early 30's. You must have at least one BLM who can cast sleepga or a bard with Horde Lullaby; you will not survive for very long if all 3 leeches are nailing your tank. You need at least one other person who can cast sleep as a backup if they wake before sleepga/h.lullaby is refreshed. Basically, pick one person to touch the ???. Then that person picks one of the 3 leeches. Everybody engages that leech, BLM sleepgas. have 2-3 people beat up on the leeches, hopefully sleep holds long enough for sleepga to refresh, if not, the BLM sleeps one leech, and the backup sleeper takes the other. Mages must conserve MP to sleep or the fight will end in a quick loss at this level.

                My party beat it with:
                35 rdm (me)
                30 war x2
                30 whm x2

We really wanted to get more people, couldn't, decided to go anyway. So we knew that we were going to be at a disadvantage.

Battle plan: I immediately used Chainspell and sleeped two leeches, then enfeebled (I suspect my higher level was key here to avoid resist, although with Chainspell you can just cast again, it uses more MP.) Both wars immediately used Mighty Strikes and attacked the third leech.

It went down fairly quick and they moved on to the second (mighty strikes wore off though), I kept enfeebling and re-sleeping the third leech as necessary (whms healing of course).

By the third leech we ran out of MP, and one of the white mages had to use Bene. He then died because nobody could get the leech off him in time, we finished off the last leech and the other WHM was able to Raise him in time for everyone to get the strangely shaped coral.

A paladin would have saved our WHM (invincible has mega-hate), another good damage dealer would have helped us kill the leeches sooner. Oh and a 33+ BLM would have saved us a lot of time walking back out afterward.

Overall advice: Use your 2hours. Bring food. It'd probably go better with a full party. And perhaps most importantly, USE SLEEP. We never would have made it otherwise. At least one of rdm, blm, brd is mandatory (unless you are so high level you can just ignore their attacks).
Defeated: Maat, Divine Might, Fenrir, Kirin, Cactrot Rapido, Xolotl, Diabolos Prime, Kurrea, 9/10 Dynamis Bosses (missing Tav), Promathia, Proto-Ultima, Proto-Omega, 4 Jailers, Apocalypse Nigh, 6/6 Nyzul Bosses
                RDM90, PLD90, DRG90, COR90, SCH90, BLU54
All Nations Rank 10, ZMs & PMs Complete, AUMs Complete, Captain, Nyzul Floor 100 (5 Weapons, 4 WS), Medal of Altana, WotG Mission 15, 1/3 Addons Complete, 9/9 Abyssea Main Quests, 6/6 Caturae

think we could handle it with this setup

                  36 Rdm
                  33 Drg
                  32 Blm
                  30 Whm
                  30 War
