  • New Ninja, Need Advice

Ok i finally reached lvl 30 last week and completed the ninja advanced job quest. So now ive been lvling up my ninja, and liking it. However, im having doubts if I will be able to farm enough to buy the best gear and ninja tools / shriken / food to be a good ninja.

Basicly i was wonder if people think i can farm enough with only a lvl 30 char as my highest? Or do you need a high lvl (45-50ish) to support the ninja job? If lvl 30 is high enough to farm cash for a ninja, can anyone give me advice on what / where to farm?

So i guess i need some help, do i have to lvl my warrior higher to support my ninja or can i farm with the warrior at his lvl and be able to lvl my ninja?

When I started out with NIN, my highest job was THF30; second highest was WAR15. I haven't levelled THF since, and have only levelled WAR as a subjob - though I have levelled a couple of other jobs up to around 10, but not much farther. In any case, I've been able to get NIN up to 39 without any significant money concerns; however, I *did* have to take a couple weeks off from levelling at 24 to earn money, and will be again once I hit 40. I kind of doubt this would be much different even if I had THF up to 50 or higher (although... I guess it might depend on if I could hunt coffers, and/or how efficiently I could do so). I sincerely doubt it would have been different with any other job, but maybe some other users on the forum can attest to that, heh.

I have a couple of crafting skills levelled, but it doesn't really cover the cost of most equipment; only consumables. Learn where some good farming spots are on your server, and plan to dedicate plenty of time to it.

You'll still be able to make money at 30, just not nearly as much as you would with a higher level job. The higher in level you get, the more spots you have access to, and the more money you can make.

If you don't have any alternate ways of making instant money (i.e. really good luck with NM's, probably 0/90128390 here), AND you REALLY want to be a top-notch ninja, I'd personally recommend you level your warrior to endgame. Well, pretty far at least. By the time your warrior is high-end, you'll be pretty established, and you'll most likely to be able to afford the best gear for your ninja without having to farm constantly. Not only will you have the money to get what you want, you will be a better player, and you will be able to catch up to your war pretty damned fast.

Right now I'm leveling my DRK, and if I could go back in time and do it all over again, I'd be playing my Warrior right now. It's not because I don't like playing DRK. DRK is the first and only job I've REALLY wanted to play, and I knew from day one that I wanted to play it. It's rather that, if I had kept on playing war, I would have had the resources to pamper my DRK from 1-75 with the best gear possible. Plus warriors are awesome :D My next melee job after I finish DRK will probably be MNK, and for sure I'm gonna get the best possible gear at every single level. I only wish I could have given my DRK the same treatment. ;( It's kinda irritating seeing a player with millions of gil at his disposal, drop that same money on things I had only dreamed of at that point in time.

Of course this is all moot if you can find a way to make quick cash, or if you are really intent on playing ninja. But if you don't really have any way to make good money, and you want to see most of your equipment boxes in that oh-so nice blue border, try leveling your war. Knowing what I know now about how good basic jobs are and can still be, I'd have taken a different route.
